Everybody cut footloose!

Once upon a time, a long time ago, I used to vid. One of the vids I made was a collaboration with killabeez that was nothing but dancing scenes, synced up to the song "Puttin' on the Ritz." Getting every footfall, turn, movement, etc., not to mention pan, tilt, and zoom, to work with the song took crazy-detailed editing down to single-frame time dilation or compression.

And my GOD it's nowhere anything like the brilliance that is this:

Hot damn. I am in complete and utter awe.

I think it's time for another viewing of Singin' in the Rain. Perhaps tonight.

Every time I watch this I find myself grinning like a madwoman. But, yeah, the aspect ratio on the Fred Astair bits is off-putting. I liked your guys' vid better.

Wow, that's... a huge compliment. Thank you. I'm just freaking awed by the quality of this one. Though I probably wouldn't have had the first dance clip be the aerobics one. It doesn't exactly set the mood. But I love the opening with the individual dancers preparing to dance.

Is there anything that better visually represents the definition of "joy" than Gene Kelly singin' and dancin' in the rain? I don't think there is.

Awww, so adorable. Have to admit, I loved the Clerks 2 moment with Jay and Silent Bob popping up from below frame wearing pigtails in their hair. It was so random amongst all the excellentness of the rest I couldn't help but laugh. Hee.

I may or may not have shrieked out loud over the awesomeness that is this vid. Which is to say, I totally did, but made sure to muffle my head in a blanket so my roommate wouldn't come running upstairs to check on me.

With all due respect, I don't agree with you at all that this is more brilliant than Puttin' on the Ritz. This is wonderful, but it doesn't have the same sense of loving that I get from yours, that sense of "these are my fandoms." And yeah, aspect ratio fail. ;-) And yeah, he's probably never seen yours, whatevs, but it feels like a copy nonetheless.

Oh, I'm certain that he's never seen our vid--but I also get the sense that this is not a "fan," in our sense of the word. So yeah, it's not going to have that same feel for the fannish world.

I don't think we have it up anywhere at this point. I'll poke around and see what I can do to upload it somewhere. I don't have a vid page, and I think Killa's taken hers down? Or maybe it's up briefly?

I still like yours better. Among other reasons, how do you do a nearly 5-minute clip on movie dancing and not have a single Fosse clip? Though I do like seeing the way he cut the older numbers to the more modern song.
