*headdesk* Yeah because one isolated group of heinous rapists represent the entire peaceful 18 days protest by literally millions of men, women and children.
Unlike the systemic rape perpetuated on local women by our armed forces on surrounding populations every where we've got bases. Ahem. Yeah, grew up in the military, but I'm not disaffected or bitter or anything!
....damn, I seem to have stumbled onto a soap box. Climbing down now. Awesome pic is still awesome! *sneaks away*
Sorry, while I'm glad to see all the protests [it's about time] I'm just not feeling all that warm and fuzzy. Revolutions, even successful ones, always have their dark side. Guess I've become a cynic in my old age. Or it's just the journalist in me.
It is really unfortunate that that had to happen, but don't forget that rape and sexual assault happen everywhere in the world, even your town...Not just in Egypt.
Oh man! Following everything going on in the middle east the past month has just been mind blowing. I mean....history books will, well, largely leave this out :D But the alternate awesome histories will have whole sections on this. This is effing HUGE.

It's been interesting watching the news lately as they switch focus between crowds of protesters.

Only 6% of Egyptians have Internet access.
Of the population from which these 6% come, only a fraction can read ARABIC, let alone read and write English.
I wish it weren't so, but what we have here is a Potemkin village.
