Brokeback Mountain to the screen

We've known Ang Lee was taking on Brokeback Mountain for a while, but not who he was considering casting, or if it would be a big studio production (highly unlikely) or a small, "art" film (much more likely).

Salon's top article today is all about it.
Director Ang Lee is set to cast Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger in "Brokeback Mountain," a story of two cowboys in love. But are studios -- and audiences -- ready for a passionate big-screen kiss between men?

Oh, and if you haven't read Brokeback Mountain, I suggest you run out and find it and read it, forthwith.

Seconded. I've been meaning to use him to personify a random midshipman of opportunity in a HH fic...

Oh wow... I'm trying to picture Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger as Jack Twist and Ennis Del Mar. Despite some of his movie choices, I like Heath Ledger and think he's a good actor. And I love Jake Gyllenhaal. This should be good.

I had no idea this was even being considered as a movie. Thank you for posting the link! I'm all happy now.
