1. Pick one dozen movies that are ones that you have special feelings about.
2. Pick a few lines of dialogue that mean something to you.
3. As people guess the film, strike out that entry.
4. If possible, after the film is guessed, explain why that movie made the list.

It's #1 up there that makes this interesting for me - it's not just about best quotes or funniest quotes or most meaningful quotes. I chose to go beyond "I really liked it!"; not all of these films are great films or even very good films, but they all represent moments, turning points, realizations for me, either in my life or my history with experiencing film. (I'll also be curious to see if all of them get recognized - no GoogleCheating!)

ETA: I will post reasons for choosing these films after the guessing game is over.

1) My good friends call me Harry.

2) Let's never come here again because it will never be as much fun. Lost in Translation, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] greywingnut

3) You're protected by the enormity of your stupidity, for a time. Notorious, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63

4) Jews know two things - suffering, and where to find GREAT Chinese food. My Favorite Year, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] ltlj

5) If I die, I'm sorry for all the bad things I did to you. And if I live, I'm sorry for all the bad things I'm gonna do to you. All That Jazz, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] wickedwords

6) Well, fine. You go ahead and miss church and then when you die and go to hell, you can answer to Satan! South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] cereta

7) Ninety years ago I was a freak. Today I'm an amateur. Time After Time, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] greywingnut

8) Why, with your looks and figure, you could drive an ice wagon or shine shoes! Singin' in the Rain, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] alvafan

9) Twenty-five thousand bucks. That's a lot of money to pay for a dame without a head. Citizen Kane, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63

10) If I had this stuff, I wouldn't have to rape anymore! Skidoo, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] whatssnoo

11) A privilege here, a responsibility there, never enough to fight over. Just a subtle drain of power, right?

12) Not essential? I think you misunderstand the meaning of the word. I teach history and literature, since when it's not essential? Schindler's List, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] kirbyfest

Number 5 is "All That Jazz", isn't it? I can see Roy Scheider saying it. Man, I love that movie.

Oooh, # 8 is from 'Singin' In The Rain' (Donald O'Connor)!

And # 11 is hurting my brain something fierce. It sounds like Michael Caine. A lot. Lemme think about it a bit more (unless someone else guesses it first, lol).

#10 is Skidoo, the worst movie ever made by someone who isn't Ed Wood. (How's your popcorn?)

And a wild stab in the dark--is #1 The Third Man?
