Date: 2005-05-09 08:33 pm (UTC)Speaking as a VJ, vid suggestions are *incredibly* helpful--as many as we can get, from as many people as we can get 'em, from as far and wide as possible. You may think everyone has seen or heard of vid x, y, or z, but really, when you come up against a VJ like me--who doesn't have an LJ and who has been swamped with enough RL stuff lately to keep me from being as engaged in fandom as I would like--there's a good chance I haven't seen the vid you're thinking of, or maybe in the course of my show brainstorming it just hasn't sprung to mind.
And when in doubt, don't be afraid to suggest more rather than less; you never know how the final shape of the show's theme might turn out, depending on what kinds of ideas we all come up with. For instance, I'm running "Cops and Robbers." Does that mean a vid must have a literal robber in it? Not necessarily. For this initial brainstorm, I'm thinking more widely about enforcing the law vs. breaking the law, not to mention the vids, plots, or characters that end up straddling that line.
So, you know. Go forth, all ye faithful, and suggest!
