So, yesterday I was doing research for a freelance client that had me reading issues of Billboard Magazine from the 1970s and I came across this bit of amusement.

SAG in negotiation with studios over a share of profits from new medium

". . . film factotums are reportedly taking a cautious stance on cartridge TV properties, since the success of the industry has not yet been tested. SAG is also asking for royalties if its members films appear on cable television." (Billboard, 12 June 1971)

The studio moguls' argument is exactly the same today as it was thirty-six years ago.
