I've been thinking about that "10,000 steps a day" guideline for a while, and yesterday after class I decided to see how many steps it would be from campus to the Sulzer library, where I was headed. It was a nice day, and I wasn't carrying a load of books, so it made sense. According to mapmywalk.com, it's about three miles, and I did it in one hour, and it was 6,230 steps. (No, I don't have a pedometer; I have two hands and sign language. DON'T JUDGE ME). At 3mph for an hour, I wasn't tired, and I feel I could easily go 10,000 a day.
So, that's the good part. The bad part is I did it in cute black flats from Payless, which are not particularly forgiving of idiots. I now have blisters on the tops of both of my little toes. Also, it started to rain about halfway there. I had an umbrella, but walking twenty minutes under an umbrella, you're gonna get wet below the knee, no matter what.

Still, it's a pretty walk, and I think that on days when the weather isn't too awful, I'll be following it rather than taking two buses. I might even manage to walk the rest of the way home afterwards, which I think will take me close to 10,000. We shall see!
