ETA: Oh my God, it's a working Wiki. You can edit entries or add your own. Thanks to
jacquez for the heads-up.
Every year, the stalwart teevee.org site does an April Fool's site, which they leave up for a bit because it usually involves several pages. This year, they have TOTALLY outdone themselves with "teeveepedia", based on Wikipedia and just absolutely hilarious. Every entry is set up just like a wiki entry, complete with links on random words. I keep hitting "random page" and laughing my ass off.
Some examples:
Comcast is a cable company that reaches octopus-like across the United States. It was founded in 1963, with the express purpose of charging people as much money as possible for basic cable service without getting slapped down by the government or having an angry mob burn down its offices. It has succeeded immensely.
Comcast's customer service staff enjoys industry bragging rights for having the shortest average time for making callers cry and/or resort to a stream of blistering obscenities.

Deadwood is a goddamned showpiece HBO drama. It's also the best motherfuckin' cowboy drama on television, bar none. Did those whoresons on Bonanza ever get a faceful of naked whore? Did Michael Landon ever moon the audience? Was there a body count at the end of every episode? Hell no, fuck no, and you know damn well there wasn't.
Watch Deadwood, cocksuckers, or get fed to the pigs.

PBS, short for "Please Buy Stuff" in honor of its frequent viewer-mooching pledge drives, is what passes for public television in the United States. Its programming includes many, many recycled programs from the BBC; Sesame Street; long-winded documentaries in which old photographs are slowly zoomed in upon while an actor reads excerpts from letters; and various programs about science, history, and current events. Aside from its quarterly attempts to hit viewers up for money, PBS exists to educate and enlighten audiences, providing them a clear and accurate view of modern and historical events. For this reason, it has earned the fear, loathing, and undying enmity of the Republican Party, and the mild disinterest of the American public.
PBS is also the nation's leading source of commemorative tote bags.

Date: 2006-04-02 12:17 am (UTC)Slash fiction is believed to have originated with a series of stories posted on Usenet in the late 1980s, detailing an allegedly fictional coupling between Guns 'n' Roses frontman Axl Rose and his guitarist, Slash.
Popular examples of slash fiction include Kirk/Spock, Picard/Riker, Mulder/Krycek, Angel/Spike, Xander/Spike, Anyone with a Y chromosome/Spike, Spike/Spike (time travel is involved), Andy/Barney, Fred/Barney, Bo/Luke, Bert/Ernie, Joey/Marcel, Michael/K.I.T.T., and nearly every episode of the television series Smallville.

Date: 2006-04-02 01:33 am (UTC)It is perhaps best-known for its terrible, terrible original movies, which are produced on five-dollar budgets in various Eastern European countries, and written, directed, and acted in by people who should all know better.
Bwahaha! So, so true. Thanks for the link. I'm going to be up all night playing with it.
