I am currently wearing my dress and shoes for Club Vivid. Strangely, I do not wish to take them off. My dress and shoes are fabulous. I am rarely fabulous. I am, however, at the moment, only *penultimately* supremely fabulous. More fabulous than I is [livejournal.com profile] shrift, who yesterday, through a grueling 3-hour game of What Not to Wear, starring me as Stacy and [livejournal.com profile] pipsqueaky as Clinton, tried on about 25 dresses, and now has the Very Best Dress Ever.

Tomorrow, shrift and I are going to Sephora for makeup consultations.

Perhaps we are taking this Club Vivid thing a bit too seriously.

...

Nah.

It's kind of alarming how much I've actually learned from watching What Not To Wear. I was shopping for clothes today (found a shirt for Club Vivid! Yay!) and actually hearing them in my head.

"This shirt accentuates the narrowest part of you, and we really like the ruching on the front. It's a little low-cut in front, but you could wear a cami under it to make it appropriate for work."

That's right, go ahead, raise the bar. See what you get in your stocking!

I KNOW!! [livejournal.com profile] shrift and I were saying the same thing, and finding all the right shapes and sizes and colors and ... and [livejournal.com profile] pipsqueaky was like, "clearly, I need to watch more What Not to Wear. And I was running around the store just grabbing things and shoving them at shrift and going "You're trying this on. Shut up - just try it on." And like, I pulled this thing that I thought, okay, it might look ridiculous just looking at it, but you have to try it on. So she did - and it looked GREAT! It's not the one she ultimately wound up getting, but we were all sort of gobsmacked by how much we liked it, after looking at it hanging there going ... "WTF."

And her shoes? FIERCE.

I made a deal with myself today to try things on that I might not normally try, and I was really pleased with the results.

My shoes will be boring, and I will live with that, since my ankle is still halfway hosed. I will need to be glittered, though. ;-)

I bought body glitter. I clearly have lost my mind.

No. You will have lost your mind when you have to go buy A DIFFERENT COLOR OF BODY GLITTER because while you have silver, you will be wearing gold earrings and of course you can't mix metals.

I am not kidding here. I wish I was.

It's kind of alarming how much I've actually learned from watching What Not To Wear.

I buy entirely different shoes and pants now, just because Clinton and Stacy say so. And I literally have dreams about having Nick cut my hair.

Oh, man, shrift and I have had wistful conversations about a haircut by Nick.

I've never seen the American What Not to Wear, but I've had shopping experiences where I was channeling Trinny and Susannah, which was alarming indeed. *g*

And yay for fabulousness! I have a fairly fabulous bodice to wear, though sadly no fabulous skirt to go with. I'll come up with something, though. And at least I have glitter...

I am in awe of your pink glitter fu. No laughter from me.

And, actually, pink would work with my dress and earrings... ::hmm::

No, no. MY dress is more fabulous! And shoes!

Although, yes, considerably less fabulous when they're actually on me, but still! When you look at them unoccupied, the fabulousness rolls off them in heat waves!

There's actually a show called What not to wear ? Color me completely out of touch. *sigh*

I have a really great skirt and a really great tank, they don't go together, of course.

And the presupposes I get to go at all.

Club Vivid could never be taken too seriously. Can't wait to see your outfit (along with everyone else's), I'm sure it looks fabulous.

Hahahaha. Just a half hour ago I had hair glitter and body glitter in my hand and I was wondering "Well can I get away with it if the body glitter is silver and the hair glitter is gold? Can I mix silver and gold?"

It makes me happy that everyone else is all into getting sparkly and fabulous. :D I'll be wearing my usual jeans-and-a-t-shirt. I cannot be assimilated. No matter how many glowsticks people throw at me.

sigh.

I say yaaaay for the brand-new Coldwater Creek opening just around the corner from me with their unexpected find of fanciful plus-size finery; I nabbed a floor-length teal sheath and shall be attending as an accessory rack of sashes.

You are welcome to use as much of it as you'd like....I'll consider it part of my duties as a con volunteer....supply the pink glitter for those who need it...lol.

And after a squirt of hair spray, body glitter works just fine in the hair.

Also, I suspect mixing silver and gold is probably perfectly appropriate. {g}

I'm pretty sure it's not possible to take it too seriously. Although I did control myself when the hairstylist couldn't get my hair exactly the same shade of blond as Starbuck's without possibly frying my scalp. But clothes, shoes, and makeup should be no holds barred! :D (Heck, maybe even hair for people feeling luckier than me! ;D)

I saw the photo of your dress hanging up--can't wait to see it all together! :D

A cut and color with Nick (I called Arrojo Studios, because I am a big dork) comes to $650. You must make a reservation at least one month in advance, and the salon is not responsible if Nick misses your appointment because he has to film that day.

I *still* want to do it.

I'm still considering my "formal" pajamas. With heels of course. And earrings. Hell, I'll be drinking so much, I might take it all off anyway. Just keep me away from the gin. :)

I'm sure you'll look FAAAAABulous, and I want some glitter, too. OTOH, I have a great mouth and just the right color lipstick. heh Also, OTOH, I have different fingers.

OMG. I'll be in Chicago in less than 36 hours. OMG.
