Well, I'll tell you what I don't love. I don't love getting up, looking outside and seeing cars sliding around on Lawrence Avenue, pulling on extra layers and boots and putting on my Michelin Man/Kenny-From-South-Park's-Lack-Of-Face Coat-Monster (tm), going outside where it's OMG cold, getting on the Lawrence bus to Kimball and fearing for my life the whole way while at the same time being OMG hot, getting off at Kimball (OMG cold) and changing for the Kimball/Hobart (OMG hot), getting off at Catalpa and walking to the university campus which is EERILY LACKING HUMANS.

Cancelled. Grad school was cancelled.

Now repeat the whole thing in reverse while being PISSED OFF (as well as OMG cold OMG hot OMG cold...).

That's what I don't love.

Home now -- jammies, cocoa with liberal dose of Kalhua, on couch with blanket and purring kitty, and the DivX dvd player is loaded with a dvd of every single episode of Heroes (I have yet to see this show, thanks to grad school which DID I MENTION WAS CANCELLED TODAY?). I'm gonna watch until pipsqueaky gets home and we can watch BSG together.

Mmph.

But I still love snow. Especially the part where I'm not in it.

Dude! I have that exact same coat (except in black)!! Maybe yours and mine and Shoshanna's could have a three-way...

And I was wearing mine today too, even though we completely missed the snow up here, because it was OMG STINKING COLD here too. An entirely predictable and dependable feature of December in Minnesota, with which I am, however, (unfortunately), completely FED UP.

But I send you big sympathy for the slogging around in the blizzard to no useful end, and your evening sounds lovely.

Snow is just faboo when you're at least three floors up and can look down on its slow, graceful dance to the ground where it immediately transforms the city into at least the third layer of hell.

I love/hate snow, and I only have sneakers and open-toed shoes. So.. damn. I'm going over to Carron's to get martini-ed. yay! Maybe she'll watch BSG.

but some university closings are listed along with the elem/high school/daycare closings on WGN's website. I think yours is there, too.

For future reference--snow days are definitely better when you DON'T leave the house! :)

I've been thinking over your first post a lot (especially since I've been dealing with some belated financial weirdness related to my own father's death, and the feelings, they are confused). True enough - I haven't had a "snow day" since I was in like, junior high.
