Cool Shit: LJDQ
Feb. 5th, 2007 03:33 pmI come to you to pimp some cool shit. Today's cool shit is
ljdq: LiveJournal's Daily Quiz.
The first thing to know about LJDQ is that it is not, in fact, a daily quiz. This is a weekly, five-question quiz which has a new theme each week; this past week's quiz's theme was "snow", so all of the answers had the word "snow" in them (Snow Patrol, Snow Crash, etc.). Other weeks' themes have not been quite so simple.
The reason that this is cool shit, and not just another quiz, is that the point isn't to give right answers so much as it is to give funny answers. If you can be both right *and* hilarious, you will be given +1, or pudding, or gin, or possible all three. (There is no actual scoring system, though it's good to remember pudding and gin. And Sting, as well. You'll catch on.)
The five questions are posted on Tuesdays by the mods (
angledge,
chaosvizier, and
lovellama). Players post their answers in the comments, which are screened. On the following Monday, the funniest (or strangest, or best uses of pudding and gin) answers are posted, along with the real answers.
You don't need to join or even watch the community to play, though watching the community of course brings the quiz and answers to you every week. All of the rules are here in the community profile. (There really aren't any rules.)
I have yet to throw my hat in the ring and post answers; I'm sure that day will come sometime down the road. Still, I read it every week because there's no such thing as too much funny.
Scrolling back through entries will give you many many laughs. And you don't even need to go find the original question post to read the answer posts; the questions are included before each set of answers anyway.
So, I suggest you go enjoy some cool shit!
And in conclusion, let me just say:
