I know lots of people have links on their lj's "homepage", for lack of the correct term because I don't care, to other fun sites and stuff like that. But as far as I can tell, most people don't visit other people's lj's homepages - they only read their own friends list (or sometimes friendsfriends).

My friend [livejournal.com profile] esorlehcar has a huge list of time-wasters linked from her ljhome, but I wonder if any of you have ever noticed. And I linked to the VividCon website and to my "100 Things About Me" lj entry from my ljhome -- but I wonder if anyone but me ever sees them.

Do you guys ever visit the ljhomes of your friends, or do you stick to reading entries on your friends page? Do those side-bar links serve as anything other than a set of handy bookmarks for the owner of the lj?

Actually, I do. I like to see what a person has done with the look of his/her lj (and sometimes come away glad that I mostly read in friends or friendsfriends lists *g*). I admit to not following many links off main pages, but I do see them.

I do actually go to people's journal homepages from time to time. Sometimes it's just because I want to read an entry I know they made a week ago, or see what they've written when I don't feel like going to skip=400 but want to make sure I catch up with certain people. Other times I go specifically to see their journal homepage or even to find a link to a page/archive/something I know they're likely to have a link to.

I certainly hope people look, I've made a mini career out of doing LJ layouts for people!

I do look at others pages for various reasons, especially when I'm friended by someone I'm not familiar with - how their LJ page is laid out and what's on it gives me an idea of who they are as much as their posts.

I tend to check out lj homepages when I'm looking for a specific post by a specific author, or seeing if a new user is interesting enough to friend. Otherwise, I stick to my friends page and treat the sidebar as handy links for myself.

I often look at LJ homepages, for various reasons. Sometimes rather than reading my friends entries as they come on my friends list, I click on their names and read them sequentially.

Now that you've told me about them, I'll probably go look at esorlehcar's timewasters!

Actually, I often do to the main lj homepage when I'm looking for links to an lj user's website. But for everyday, yeah, just the friends page.

I used to visit the actual livejournal page, back before I had everybody I read regularly on my friends list. Now I don't. I do know there are people who don't have livejournals themselves who follow certain journalists' journals, though.

I do look at LJ homepages. Not always, it depends. I will frequently look at them before adding a friend. As others have said, if I know there's likely to be a link there I need, I'll look then. Also, if someone announces they've changed their layout, I'll go look then (even if the person in question usually has layouts that are completely unreadable to me).
