This past weekend,
shrift and I (and four non lj-ers) went to see
Thom Pain (based on nothing), put on by
Theater Wit. The play was written by Will Eno, garnering him a Pulitzer nomination;
The New York Times called the play "Samuel Beckett for the Jon Stewart generation". The production is directed by one of my best friends, Jeremy Wechsler, and stars my friend Lance Baker. It is seventy minutes of emotional and intellectual rapture, and I highly recommend it for anyone who has twenty bucks and a free evening.
(If you think I might be a little biased *g*, you can check out the reviews at
The Chicago Sun-Times or the
Chicago Reader.)
It plays Thursdays through Sundays, but it's only running until April 14, so hit the
Theater Wit website now!

Date: 2007-03-20 02:11 am (UTC)LOL! I love Beckett too, so I'm with you on that one. This person probably had never seen a good *production* of Beckett, because it's so easy to do badly. I had the great good fortune of seeing the Gate Theatre's production, and it was one of *those* nights at the theater. You know what I mean.
