I didn't see Umbridge listed on characters I'd most like to see die, so I didn't pick anyone.

I am sufficiently spoiler-phobic that I ran screaming from the rest of your questions following the "how spoiler-phobic are you" question. [buries head in sand]

My husband or I will pick it up the day it comes out. He will read it immediately. I will be busy trying to finish reading Book #4 before I see movie #5. Can you say I don't give a rat's tuchis?

Wow, *that's* dedication. I don't think there are any spoilers following the question - just asking people's opinions. I have no spoilers about the book, and I personally don't *want* any spoilers. I think it's relatively safe. :) But I respect your holding to your desires!

I pre-ordered the book for pick up at my local bookstore, but probably won't be there at midnight.

In one of the most overbooked Saturday's ever, I have to run on that morning (18 miles), and so I have to go to bed at 9:00 the night before (old, yes). I'll be picking the book up after the run, and going to the [livejournal.com profile] justacat's Pros con to be one of her minions all day. I took Monday off work to read it.

I've pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk, which means that I'll have to wait a few days after the book is out to receive my copy. But I really prefer having the UK version.

I might go looking for an illicit electronic version in the meantime, but I'll probably just grit my teeth and try to hold out.

That was a fun poll!

For the past few days my brain has been taken over by a Heroes/Harry Potter crossover in which Peter and Harry meet and talk about forehead scars, unmanageable hair, savior complexes, and being The Boy Who Lived. Why does the Heroes Crossover Ficathon not have a HP category? Why?

I am looking forward to the wank. I don't care if it makes me a bad person--I'm looking forward to the wank almost as much as the book. Heh. It's going to break the internet.

Judging from last book's precedent, I will read it on line the day it hits the stores. (I wouldn't buy it anyway, so this is no loss to JKR et al.) And I'll be on IRC and/or LJ at the time.

Umbridge was present at Dumbledore's funeral. (Should I worry about a spoiler from the previous book?)

Re: final question. I will be making a special reading filter of the half dozen people on my flist who, like me, don't give a rat's ass and will hide from all of you insane people for like, a week until you all calm down.

I'm still having flashbacks from the last book release. ::shudder::

Nah, I don't think so. Anyone here a) has read the books already or b) doesn't care about being spoiled.

I am Special, in that I have a phobia of last books in series. (As I told [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth earlier, I was traumatically bitten by The Last Battle as a child. I still have the scars.) So I am pretending that there is no book - we will buy it, yes, and Best Beloved will read it, but I will remain in a perfect state of Total Last Book Denial.

I will probably not be able to read the book for years, and only after I have been completely spoiled for every detail for long enough for all possible negative emotional reactions to have worn off. Which means, if the wrong character dies, or if the ending is, in my opinion, fucked up, I may never be able to read the book.

It's a really bad phobia, is what I'm saying.

I will wait until 45 minutes after sunset in New York City and then I will write a post of my first impressions of the book and *then* I'll read everyone else's responses.

And while I expect characters to die, I don't want any of them to do so.

I'll probably pick it up the first day, so that I can read it before I have a good chance of being spoiled. If it wasn't for spoilers *everywhere*, I'd probably wait even longer, but I know that there's just no way to avoid it.

I'll probably read some meta, but not a lot.

I put that I'll be rewatching the first four movies only because I really have no choice, as they're on all the time here. All the freaking time. Any time any network sees fit to run a Harry Potter movie and my dad is home, that movie will be on somewhere in the house. That man is a bigger HP fan than I am, by far, and he's never read the books! (He doesn't want to be spoiled for the movies. No lie.)

I actually have no idea what I'll be doing re: lj. It will in part depend on whether I'm up in Maine at the time and whether my newly appeared half-brother is too. This may also put a damper in actually, like, reading it, until I get back. If I have time I'll probably be checking periodically, but avoiding the HP communities, and skipping cut posts by friends. If for no other reason so as not to spend HOURS reading that when I could be finishing the book.

At this point I'm agnostic about spoilers. I don't mind them but I'm not going to hunt for them either.

I will probably reread at least one of the books between now and then, but probably not all. I've reread all of them recently enough (HP being my primary fandom currently makes for more rereading), that I'm not feeling compelled. Now, depending on how I end up feeling about DH I may end up going back and rereading them all immediately after finishing it. That's my more usual mode when facing the latest installment.

Eh. I don't particularly care. I'll probably read the book eventually, I guess, if it's around and I happen not to have anything else to read. I'll probably see the movie eventually, I suppose, if my family goes and invites me along and it doesn't look like there'll be much on TV that night. I'll probably read the wank, at least until I get bored of the same comments over and over again. Eventually I'll know what happens and I might even form an opinion. But that would be stretching it.

For Book Seven I will - go to the allnight supermarket at about 0100 and buy groceries AND the book so I can pretend it isn't the only reason I am there. And why, yes, the checkout girl *did* see right through that strategy 2 years ago.

Spoilers
I will have to work before I have finished the book. I am declaring a hippocratic oath free day and anyone who spoils me gets paralysis drugs/random bits of anatomy removed/large large needles. Really. Or I may just cry.

I hope, by the time the film comes out, to finish at least one knitting project that is HP-related. I figure that will make up for the possibility of not going to a fandom screening of the film or a midnight book release party.

I'll just read it/see movie whenever I get the chance (could be a long while, knowing me), so I'll have to start avoiding all HP references on LJ and probably everywhere else so I don't get spoiled. I don't even like speculating about what might happen (perhaps it's just too much effort and I'm lazy), but I like it all to be fresh and surprising.

I think we'll see Sirius again in the same way we see Harry's parents: ghosts, Patronuses, whispy silver visions during important magic moments. And/or when Lupin dies.

Browsing friendsfriends, and just have to say that this:

If you spoil me, I will write code called Google Space Laser, integrate it with Google Earth, and target your home.

That's kind of my thought too -- I'm just assuming that, because Rowling brought up those mirrors in OotP, and had one in Harry's possession and one in Sirius's possession, and made sure to remind us of them at the end of the book, that we *are* going to see Sirius again. Not *alive*, maybe, but in some other form, as you say.

Here via friendsfriends. I'm going to a midnight release party for the first time ever with some of my friends, then we're all going to crash at my house and read it. Since I'm the fastest reader I'll be on LJ while they finish up, then we'll talk about it, probably go out for breakfast, and sleep all day. It will be awesome. I'll probably stay off LJ for a day or two beforehand, since one of my friends got spoiled for book 6 on a completely unrelated community the day before the book release.
