I finally realized in the opening moments of the first scene on the Valiant who John Simm's Master reminds me of.

Kevin Spacey's Mel Profitt.

So when he was given the Viking-like funeral, I cracked the fuck up.

And then Lucy's hand!!

There are going to be *so* many icons of the Master in the Doctor's arms, both during "I forgive you" and during the Master's death. The weeping and the rocking! And the fact that they had a year in which the Master could de-age, and re-age, and de-age, and re-age the Doctor over and over, and kill and kill and kill Jack, while Lucy goes more and more insane, and all *kinds* of things could have happened.... And the Master thinks the idea of his wife with another woman could be fun....

Oh, God, the poor Doctor. He had a chance to care for the Master. He had a chance to finally feel that he wasn't alone, in the one way that could truly matter to him, and the Master took it away. "I win." AUGH. Then his hyper-exuberance about where he and Martha are going next, while trying to pretend that what they both know to be true isn't true... more heartbreak. All alone, in two separate ways. And then - "What."

Is it Xmas yet?

P.S. I'm American, and I get frustrated with the worldwide American hatred (though I completely understand it), but man I laughed my ASS off at "See, just after the President was killed, but just before the spheres arrived. Everything back to normal." AWESOME! (gives thumbs-up!Saxon).

The sound-bite of Martha and/or Lucy and/or Jack breathing "Doctor" is going to be so useful for so many fans in so many ways. Alert sounds, start-up audio, ring-tones....
