Will Smith is starring in I Am Legend, based on the Richard Matheson novel (which is basically George Stewart's Earth Abides plus an extra plot element *g*). The main site linked above has the main trailer and some very cool shit, like the "I Am Legend: Awakening" online comic.

But.

This is a different I Am Legend trailer which gives a glimpse into one tiny part of the backstory, and it absolutely floored me. If any of you remember being enthralled when you first saw the trailer for Sin City (regardless of what you thought of the movie), this trailer gives me the same sort of HOLY SHIT feeling, though in an entirely different way and for entirely different reasons. I can't explain it, because giving even a tiny bit of how, why, etc. away would take away from the initial experience of it.

Do not let the initial graphic that you see on the trailer site misguide you; that is not at all what the trailer is like. I will warn that, depending upon your ability to take certain concepts and images, the trailer may be incredibly disturbing or upsetting to you -- the problem is you can never know unless you watch. All I can say is what I said above - HOLY SHIT.

That was amazing. I don't know that I want to see the movie itself (I am so tired of remakes) but that was very well done.

Yeah, I'll wait and see on the reviews and word-of-mouth on the film, but that backstory one... wow. All of the choices the creators made are so specific. Everything from visual to music to sound design to what moves and what doesn't is so deliberate.

That was lovely!

But... is that part of the film? I mean, the impression that I got was that it was back-story and will be glossed over in the film. An optional extra for those that are interested in the story and want to explore it more, but won't be touched in the actual film part.

I haven't kept up with this film much, since I wasn't sure how well the execution would be.

I love both trailers. I will be going to see this movie regardless of the reviews.
