Christine Rose is Mama Petrelli. And for that one scene she deserves an Emmy.

OMG I KNOW!!!!!! I just went from "I'm never watching this show AGAIN" to "OK YAY I'M BACK" in the space of about 90 seconds.

*takes deep breaths*

p.s. christine rose, let me go get you your emmy award.

I concur. Hot damn. Also, if she has a power, why the hell didn't she use it during that interrogation?! Unless it's something elatively useless like upgrading silverware.

Matt Skywalker --> Darth Parkman in 3, 2, 1,....

And it all started so very innocently, mind-controlling Molly to make her eat her cereal... wow. *sits back with popcorn*

OMG yes. She rocks on a weekly basis. She's the most complex female character on the show, I think.

The consensus seems to be (and I concur) that her power is Persuasion, but that she has to be hands-on to do it. Last season there were more and more scenes of her putting her hands on someone's arm or shoulder or back when she was "suggesting" what they might need to do or say. She does it to both of her sons more than once, and she did it this season to Heidi. So I'm not sure what she would have done to Matt other than what she already did, which was try to resist him. Plus, she's rather weakened right now.

As for upgrading silverware being useless -- I'll take that over flying or invisibility any day. :D

Not. Gonna. Happen. Already taken steps down the path of no return. He will be ... SITH-COP!

That power would be my first guess as well (although it would totally corrode the moral ambiguity that made Nathan look so complex last season), but I still doubt she wouldn't at least try to use it when she's practically being tortured. Looks like the show's trying to postpone the revelation until it has more "punch" - but it feels pretty sloppy to me.

And hey, I said "(r)elatively useless"; I'd pick Midas over flying too, unless I were trying to escape/evade someone. ;-)

Also, off topic: OMG Simm in Sex Traffic! HOW CAN HE BE SO ADORABLE? SURELY IT IS NOT HUMAN.

Noooooooooooooo!

... What's actually rather frightening is that Matt was much closer to Five Years Gone!Matt than he's ever been.

And what's especially sad? When he told Molly to finish her cereal, I genuinely thought it was a conversation, because he'd just said something to her in her head, and she went along with it, so I had been thinking more along the lines of "Molly is annoyed with Matt not letting her help, so she will sigh, and eat her cereal, because Matt told her to."

So, when he starts doing it in terms of orders with his boss, and then with Mama Petrelli, I was like, "OHHHH."

... so, yeah.

Maybe the touch factor in her ability is where the Petrelli brothers learned to manipulate each other through touch...

It's quite possible that they've adopted it as a social skill, of course. I think Pasdar said in some interview that he used various politicians' body language when developing Nathan's character - putting hands on somebody is pretty damn powerful.

christine rose, let me go get you your emmy award.

Knowing the absolute asshattery of the Emmys, I think I have a clue where it is - on the "TOTAL FUCKING TRAVESTY" shelf next to Mary McDonnell's, Michael Hogan's, and Joss Whedon's. Please rescue it, because Cristine Rose is AMAZING.

Matt, using your Whammy-like powers should NOT work on the Mistress of the Whammy, dammit. Either she doesn't have the Power of Persuasion aka "The Whammy", or she's got some other power that isn't nearly as awesome.
