Someone convince me I shouldn't even be thinking about buying this, or these. Especially because right now I can hardly afford to feed myself, let alone pay my tuition.

Okay - memage: There are 30 questions. Answer each question with one name. Next to each number, write only the name of the person who fits. If you want the questions mailed to you, you have to swear to do the meme yourself.

Why can't they make a pair of lace-up boots without that damn insole zipper? Grr.

I have no money, AND no credit card, AND no reason to buy dress boots!

So, you know, obviously I'm tempted to steal my husband's credit card and order them tonight. *headdesk*

Oh, they're gorgeous, yes. But I so want real lace-ups.

I saw a pair in the window of a shop in Eidinburgh years ago, said I'd come back for them later, and when I did the shop was closed. I suspect that real lace-up boots will be my eternal quest.

(That jacket is glorious, also.)

aiight, about the boots, girlfriend.

I have an *extremely* cute pair of Matisse brand oxfords. Extremely cute.

They're "crinkle patent" leather, and the finish is VERY fragile; they started splitting after I'd had them 3 days. Now, I *like* the distressed look, but it has made me a bit wary -- I'm just not sure how well their shoes will hold up over time, with that kind of first experience. (I've only had mine a month; I wear them maybe 2-3 times a week.)

So, if you had the money, I'd say get them and wear them only inside on carpet for a week. Since you don't, I'd say admire them from afar.

1) What about if you got the coat but not the boots? Those boots look mighty uncomfortable to me, and getting one but not the other is sort of a compromise. Maybe? Except for the whole needing to eat problem.

2) Dang this meme anyway! This is the first time I've been namechecked in it, so I guess now I'm gonna have to do it after all. Questions, please?

I tried on a pair of knee-high lace-up boots a few years ago. Or, I should say, I tried on one. It took fifteen minutes to get it on, at which point I realized why they usually have zippers, and figured they were not a good match for my wash-and-wear lifestyle. (:

Since you asked.

Do not buy the boots. Boots are ridiculously difficult to fit, because either the foot part is great but the calf is not, or the calf is great but you have to wear five pairs of socks to get the foot to fit correctly. Plus, those are lace-up, which means it'll take you ten minutes to put EACH ONE on, and another five to pull them off, and since the object of boots is to be sexy, the time involved in getting them off defeats the purpose.

Also, they probably pinch your toes, and you may look fantastic, but you'll be miserable. I am of the opinion that no shoe that makes a body miserable is worth wearing. I realize not everyone is of this opinion.

As for the coat....um. It's lovely. But I bet it's made poorly and has no liner and you'll freeze. Yes. OH, and the color can't be half as gorgeous in real life as it is in the picture, which is probably enhanced.

*nods enthusiastically, if not convincingly*

#7? Really? WOW. Um, no, not really. My graduating class was 600 people, my school topped 4,500, so I wasn't really popular. There were so many of us. I was friends with some cool people, though. Chino, who was VP of our class. Corey, who was the anchor for CBN (he did fake news like Colbert and Stewart before they were hugely-known). Raquel, this really popular girl who was in orchestra and always sat in front of me in concerts because she was first chair viola and right in front of the sopranos. The Palma twins, these football stars who worked at Chickie's and Pete's and who I kind of grew up with.

I saw that jacket and was tempted myself. I went to the store to see it in person, but they didn't have it.

I have several suede-like jackets similar to that and I find them useful in the fall. Trouble is, they are hard to get cleaned properly.

[And what am I big time? :) ]

Oh man. My curiosity is warring with my awareness that I'm the king of lousy follow-thru on memes (and many other things).

Curiosity, as ever, wins. I swear to do the meme, reserving the right to use non-answer answers on up to half of the questions. Have we a deal? :)

5 -- oh, hahaha, if you knew me irl. Only when I'm feeling ridiculously confident.

22 -- I am not entirely sure what that means.
