Happy New Year's Day, everyone! And happy 19-Days-Til-Inauguration, my fellow Dems!

My one resolution for 2009 (though if it goes well I may add a mid-year resolution too): One Hundred Push Ups. The plan is simple, the bar is low (can you do ten push ups? How about one push up? No? How about one half-push up? Great, let's start there!), and a few minutes three times a week is not much of a commitment for a nice return on investment.

Wish me luck (or, hey, join me!) -- I start tomorrow!

Do you want a One Hundred Pushups buddy? I tried it once before, but I hurt my back and had to stop.

Hey - I did that program (until I had to forego pushups for a while because my knee was screwed up) and it really works! I got up to 60 modified pushups at one go, and plan to start again soon. Go get'em!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm definitely starting with modified push ups (can't do a single full push up). I hope your knee got better.

Drive by to say--

100 push ups is a great program, but it's pretty tough and ambitious timing-wise. I was half-way through when I fell off the bandwagon over Christmas (oops), but when I WAS doing it I found it very helpful to repeat individual days if I struggled on that day's workout (rather than repeating whole weeks, like it recommends). But it really is amazing to see how quickly you improve. Good luck!

Good luck. I still remember failing badly when we had to do push ups in PE. (And the teacher already let me do the easier ones where you are on your knees.)

:nod: I have a buddy (see above), and I have a friend at uni who is going to make sure I've done my push ups. :D I have positive hopes for this!

Yeah - I'm starting out doing the knee-based push ups. The site has proper form video for each kind of push up, including the ones where you simply press away from a wall. They want *everyone* to know they can improve.
