In late December, David Letterman did a Video Top Ten of Bush's Finest Moments.

It's pretty funny, but there are two small problems with it.

1) Limiting that list to ten cannot possibly do the man, uh, "justice."

2) The number one video clip should have been the video of Bush, after being told that a second plane had been flown into the other tower at the World Trade Center (he'd been told about the first one on the way to his photo-op, but did not cancel it and go back to Washington, or even contact anyone in D.C.), sitting in an elementary school classroom listening to children read The Pet Goat. For seven minutes. Doing nothing, saying nothing... just sitting there. Didn't end the cutesy photo-op. Didn't excuse himself to "make a phone call." Didn't talk to any of his advisers or other members of his staff who were right there in the room with him. Just sat there like the fucking idiot he is, and was, and always will be. Well, will be until he drinks himself to death in Preston Hollow, one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Dallas, where he and Laura are moving immediately after leaving the White House now that he no longer needs to reside at his "ranch" in Crawford in order to look like he knows fuck-all about ranching. (BTW, the land in Crawford was bought in 1999, in preparation for his all-but-assured election to the White House; the 10,000 square-foot "ranch" was completed in 2000, just in time for him to look like "one uh thuh pepul.")

The entire clip, all seven minutes of it, should have run. But then Dave's long-bottled-up rage at everything and anything to do with Bush would have finally erupted, and he would have taken an ax to the set, the cameras, the band, and the audience, before dying of spontaneous human combustion.

Plus, it's a comedy show, and having to sit through seven minutes of an agonizing reminder of the all-out disaster of this utterly incompetent, proudly ignorant, hateful war criminal wouldn't be particularly funny.

I mean, we've had eight years of it, and it hasn't been funny so far.
