Oh noes! They were, like, the epitome of romance.

Of all the reasons to be glad McCain/Palin didn't win, this is probably the absolute least significant one... but I'm still kind of relieved that two *kids* weren't forced into getting married just to throw a bone to the far right. (Of course, I guess I'm assuming that they *would've* gotten married if McCain/Palin had won, but who knows? It wouldn't be the first thing said on the campaign trail that didn't get followed through on afterwards; maybe the plan was always to wait until people got distracted and quietly call the whole thing off.)

Indeed exactly yes.

Indeed. And to echo [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn, it's a small relief that the other shoe has finally dropped and they (and their child) won't be subjected to a sham marriage. Now we can completely forget about the whole thing.

Too bad they can't. Ugh.

I love the word 'affianced.'

That is all.

I knew I smelled powder when that marriage-to-be was announced. (And I don't mean the kind that goes on a baby's bottom.)

Oh, thank goodness! I was so worried they were actually going to force that poor girl to marry him.

I believe the first work in which I ever encountered 'affianced', and indeed the only place I've witnessed its use, was in the Shaw play Arms and the Man. A particular favorite of mine in high school....which seems an eternity ago. :D

So, what happens to the little Republispawn? That was, after all, the catalyst for their engagement, I believe...Levi was going to Do The Honorable Thing by marrying her, because he couldn't be arsed to Do The Honorable Thing and take preventative measures in the first place.

That girl has dodged a bullet, IMO. She should count her lucky stars!
