In case you're only reading me here now, I realized I've recently made a few lj-only entries out of force of habit. You can find them here, if you're curious. There aren't that many, but I'd recommend reading today's entry. :D
fwiw, I find it easiest to post directly to dreamwidth; I have it set to automatically x-post to lj, so I only have to make the post once and it appears in both places. Obviously this would only work if you wanted to make the dreamwidth posting interface your default, but I figured I'd mention, since it has made my life incredibly simple. :-)
I was doing that exact thing from the moment dw went into open beta, but I really don't want two separate comment threads, and I found far fewer people were willing to use OpenID to comment over here than would normally comment when I posted strictly to lj. I'll figure out which road I'll stick with eventually.
::nod:: For now I'm dealing with the dual comments threads, though they annoy me; I'd rather consolidate comments on dw, but apparently some people are having a lot of trouble with openid, so I thought I'd try to wait until dw is out of beta. We'll see whether this lasts, though; it's driving me kind of nuts to have 2 separate comments threads!
So should I adjust my flist filter again and read you on both services? When you made your x-post announcement I removed you from my LJ default view, but it seems this was premature?
I thought I'd be instantly settled posting at DW with x-post at LJ, comments at DW only. I'm finding I'm not sure I like that, and I don't want to have two separate comment threads going, so yeah, for the meantime, probably you will find me at lj. I'm sorry to make a hassle for those who changed settings around this.
Heh, well, at least you announce it. I had a few people who made their DW announcement and seemed to x-post consistently so not wanting to scroll through lots of double post I filtered them on LJ and for a while I got posts on DW, only then to wonder a few weeks later why I haven't seen anything from them for some time, when they used to post frequently. So I then check their LJ and see they somehow stopped xposting. And I mean, it takes me a while to notice this, if I do at all. That kind of sucks.
I got used to this when I started posting on IJ. I mean I never got lots of comments there, but still.
Comments aren't too bad for me, but polls are a pain. Especially as the xposter doesn't create a poll in LJ even if you can post them, so you have to do that manually to get a poll in both places rather than a link. I thought about just having the polls on DW, but I want to make it convenient. Weirdly enough some people vote in both places. It kind of sucks to have to add up results instead of just seeing them, especially in polls with several options.
