I realised I've been spamming my readers in recent days, so I will try not to post so many separate posts from now on.

News from tzikehland:

We lost our manager in yet another cut-back, and now the web department reports to the Marketing department. Today, we had to completely change our redesign because someone thinks it should have "more blue" in it. And we had to redo all title bar graphics because someone else doesn't like "rounded corners".

Yeah, this is gonna be fun.

I completely have the Timing of the Gay! Some of you know that, completely by chance, right after I'd bought my TiVo, I lucked into The Gayest Gay Thing That Was Ever Gay - right there on television, and I saved it. It was the first thing I'd ever TiVoed, and I still have it now. And wow, is it gay.

This morning, I flipped on the tv *briefly* to check the weather, and came in to a national morning show during commercials. When the commercial break ended and we went back into the show - the host was introducing Hugh Jackman, who was there to perform a number from his premiering Broadway musical The Boy from Oz, which is a show about Peter Allen. For those who don't know who he was - he wrote "(When My Baby Smiles at Me) I Go to Rio" and "Arthur's Theme (The Moon and New York City)" and "I Honestly Love You" among other songs, and he was a great showman. Gay, gay, GAY. He was so gay that he was discovered by Judy Garland and married Liza Minelli. The gayness of it all. Man, what an electric performer he was.

Got it on TiVo. Yay!

Barbie? Tall, blonde, busty... that Barbie?

...

BARBIE??

Okay, I want the Barbie Seder Table (with pink matzoh!), and the Barbie Masada Action Playkit (Romans sold separately), and I want Ken to come with a yarmulke and tallis and teeeeny little strap-on tefillin boxes.

...

Barbie. Yeah. Okay.

I've encountered a very small, loosely joined, ad-hoc community of some of my fannish friends from disparate interests coming together for Charles/Erik fandom in X Men. I haven't been really active in the fanfiction part of fandom for a while, and I'm totally grooving on this vibe. I don't write, but I'm surrounded by good writers who have gotten hooked into the slash vibe these two give off. Guh. I have a reply to a comment in my post from yesteday with the photo which has links to all the good Charles/Erik I know about - if anyone finds more, please do drop a comment! Are there Charles/Erik communities or lists out there? Old guy slash! Woooo!

And that's all from me for now.

BARBIE?!?!

I love this, though:

Heee!

Also, gotta sympathize with your mini-reorganization woes. Jeez, the "more blue in it" thing is a cliché! I can't believe it's actually happening to you. That so sucks. ::patpat::

Ah, when Marketing gets into design, it's always a good time for the designers, isn't it. Sheesh. Sorry to hear. Hope you get those bluer, pointy corners together soon.

I recently was in a meeting with our Director about the new website design our tech guy put together. We're an academic research unit, and I thought he'd done a nice, sleek job with it all, but her first comment was that she wanted more pictures. There should be lots of pictures! I immediately piped up with "You realize that anyone accessing this without the benefit of a ethernet connection will not thank you for all those pictures," which seemed to get through to her (didn't mention it also wouldn't look nearly a Professional with tons of pictures clogging up the site). I later apologized to tech guy for butting in, but he thanked me for making a point that she would understand. *g*

Does she come with Barbie's Dream Mezzuzah?

Don't know of a Charles/Erik community as such, but a lot of writers/fans of the pairing can be found on [livejournal.com profile] xavierfans.

If you haven't already seen them, I'd recommend [livejournal.com profile] astolat's Going Down (and sequels) and Pilgrimage.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite's Golden and Ten Thousand Candles, which is really a Charles Xavier story but has some lovely and painful Xavier/Magneto backstory.

Heh. Yeah, I've seen them - she wrote some of them for me. ;)

But I haven't seen Golden or Ten Thousand Candles, so I'll check those out! Thanks!

I want Barbie to come with teeny plastic tefillin. In pink, of course.

Wow, a whole new world of marginally blasphemous craft projects has just opened up to me.

Also lovely, in the same archive as Andraste's stories, is Jane St. Clair's Fragile Bodies of Touch and Taste.

Well, my company web page is agressively "Granny Smith apple" green
Now, I happen to love Granny Smith apples. But as a color for a web site, I think that's a poor choice, to say the least.
But that,s what the marketing company recommanded. And we paid them pots of $ for this?

So now that Barbie's been officially named as part of the conspiracy, does she get the Trilateral Commission secret decoder ring?

Oh - and please let whoever does the audio mixing on Soundstage know that he is a genius and now has a fan. : )
