House - no spoilers.

The only way I can watch House anymore is to assume that the premise is "Surreal ensemble sci-fi comedy/drama set in a universe where doctors are all sado-masochistic insane fucks who are incapable of acting like rational adults or recognizing that they have said the same exact things to each other, year after year, in hopes of changing one another (see above re: insane). Their patients are, if anything, even more insane."
Thank fuck that next season is the final season, so that my completest compulsion only requires me to torture myself 23 more times.
(Next week's finale looks to pull out all the stops w/r/t my definition of the premise.)
ETA: Don't get me wrong; I loved House for a long time--longer than it probably deserved. But this past season (or maybe even two) have been... it's not even that the "medicine" is bad (face it: it's *always* been ridiculous), but who are these people and why aren't they all in an asylum or in prison? Eight years is a good run (next year will be the eighth, and final, season), and many, many shows start to lose steam and creativity around five, which I think House managed to extend by at least a full season. But.
EATA: Lisa Edelstein has decided not to renew for the final season. Now - that might make it interesting, but no less insane.
