Goodbye, Donald O'Connor
Sep. 27th, 2003 09:06 pmDonald O'Connor has died. Probably many of you didn't know he was still alive. ;) But I loved him, and it's a rare performer who makes an indelible mark on cinema the way O'Connor did with "Make 'em Laugh" in Singin' in the Rain.
His family was with him, and released a statement that noted that among his last words were the following:
"I'd like to thank the Academy for my lifetime achievement award that I will eventually get."
Goodbye, Donald. At last you can stop suffering and write that symphony.

Now that I think aobut it, I think Danny Kaye died aa while back.

Good last words though. He went out with a sense of humor.

Date: 2003-09-27 09:16 pm (UTC)We rented Singin' in the Rain just recently, and had to rewind Make 'Em Laugh so my son could watch it twice.
R.I.P. to a fine actor.
