Turn Off Your TV Week

Quote:
Take a seven-day break from TV and reclaim time to talk, play, read, exercise, create, dream -- and live!

Uh, Why Should I?

It’s not an “all or nothing” scenario. TV really can be part of a balanced lifestyle.

I like the Why Should I? link. In my family, we bond over TV and video games. Hell, my youngest nephew learned to read playing Final Fantasy games; his older sibs and mom were playing, and he wanted to play, but it was all words...what could he do, but learn to read?

Y'know, I could almost do this anyhow, only I'm not gonna skip an episode of Tru Calling just to make some people with skewed viewpoints happy.

How DARE they ask me to go without my Davis when I don't have to?

My kids' school has really been pushing this, announcing it in emails and letters home for the last two weeks.

My reaction? I've been showing the kids a different movie every night, and then discussing it with them afterwards. *eg* Because that's my reaction when people tell me how I ought to be raising my kids.
