Virginia outlaws all gay rights, in order to (according to one Senator) "drive homosexuals in the state of Virginia into a legal limbo, so that they'll either have to become heterosexual or leave, and to break the power of homosexuals in state business and politics."

If you haven't joined the ACLU yet, no time like the present.

which is not to say i think people should move to virginia who hadn't intended to do so. but i hope like hell there's not a mass exodus -- because that's exactly what, below fairfax county, they're hoping will happen.

You know, I can't imagine that something like this is going to stand for very long. I mean, totally not a lawyer, here, but it just sounds... wrong. And I mean, obviously, wrong in a, "you bastards!" kind of way, but more than that. Wrong, as in, "Sorry, but you flunked, muttonhead." Nope, thank you for playing, Virginia legislature, but your answer was incorrect, and this one is gonna get tossed out like yesterday's cat litter. You're fired. (Are there any more metaphors I can toss into this mix?)

And having said all of that, I have to admit that I'm totally swamped with work here, and may be completely off base with that opinion, 'cause I haven't read everything about what all has happened, and you know -- not a lawyer.

Anyway, I've been a card-carrying ACLU member for more years than I want to admit to having been an adult, actually. *g* Me and the ol' ACLU, we're like this. ::holds up crossed fingers::
