I bet we've been together for a million years And I bet we'll be together for a million more Oh, it's like I started breathing on the night we kissed And I can't remember what I ever did before
What would we do, baby, without us? What would we do, baby, without us? And there ain't no nothing we can't love each other thrrrooooughh-hoo! What would do, baby, without uuuu-uuu-uuuus? Sha la la la....
I used to watch that pictures-morphing-from-hippies-to-family opening credits sequence in rapt fascination. I totally shipped Steven and Elyse during the credits, even while part of me cringed at the cheesey duet. I didn't give two figs about their marriage during the episodes.
I can't do all of the lyrics to the verses of Diff'rent Strokes, but I've always loved the opening lines:
A man is born, he's a man of means Then along come two, they got nothin' but their jeans
::sob:: Little Willis and Arnold, they got nothin' but their jeans. Liz, I know you feel me on this one!
A man is born, he's a man of means Then along come two, they got nothin' but their jeans
Well the world don't move to the beat of just one drum what might be right for you may not be right for some a man is born, he's a man of means then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans but they got diff'rent strokes it takes diff'rent strokes it takes diff'rent strokes to move the world
Everybody's got a special kind of story everybody finds a way to shine It don't matter that you got not a lot, so what they'll have theirs and you'll have yours and I'll have mine
And together we'll be fine....
'cuz it takes diff'rent strokes it takes diff'rent strokes it takes diff'rent strokes to move the world! (MMMM!)
excuse me while I butt in on your 80s themesong throwdown

You take 'em both and then you have
The Facts of Life, The Facts of Life!
There's a time you've gotta go
To show you're growin' so now you know
The Facts of Life, The Facts of Life!
When the world never seems
To live up to your dreams
Then suddenly you're finding out
The facts of life are all about you, you!
It takes a lot to get 'em right
When you're learnin' The Facts of Life, The Facts of Life!
The Facts of Life!
