From a discussion thread about the "one nation, under God" phrase in the Pledge of Allegiance and the SCOTUS refusing to hear the case on a technicality (which you can read at Metafilter):

"I really fail to see the problem with the word 'God' in the pledge. It's secular and frankly not that big of a deal."

Maybe he meant Dog. Dog is secular. Well, most dogs are - jackiekjono once linked me to this Bible-Dog who was really down with prayer.

Oh - maybe his God is not that big of a deal? Like, all the other Gods get to be all "Lo, I am God!" and this person's god is all, "Dude, y'all got any weed?"

Maybe his god is The Dude. The Dude is secular. He should have probably clarified his statement to say "One nation, under The Dude..."

Ah yes, that most secular of words, "God".

My mother is convinced that Easter is a secualr holiday. I can see making the case for Christmas, but Easter? Not so much. I think she just likes the chocolate eggs and refuses to believe she's doing anything Christian.

(btw, I think I have articulated my musical theater issues to myself.)
