I've got this bootleg videotape of Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan in the 2002 Broadway run of Private Lives. You'd think that there would be nothing better than Alan Rickman, in a 1920's tuxedo, smoking a cigarette and drinking a cocktail, speaking Noel Coward's words to romance a beautiful woman.

You'd be wrong.

All of that is Act 1.

Act 2? Alan Rickman in satin pyjamas and an undone dressing gown, dancing about with said beautiful woman in an Oriental-carpet and pillow-strewn loft, occasionally stopping to snuggle up with her on a couch.

BAREFOOT.

I'll be in my bunk.

ETA: Oh, GOD, now he's playing the piano and singing...

Miriam Heddy and I went to see AR in that when it was playing here and, yes...Oh God, indeed! Not only did I get to see the feet, bare and in person, but after the show I talked to him a bit, and...mmmm. Sadly, however, he was wearing shoes at the time. *g*

(...of course, since I'm never totally satisfied, I will say that I'm insanely jealous that you have a tape, and like swamp_dragon, I'd also be willing to give up my somebody's firstborn for a copy)

Was reading a friend's friends' journals. I actually saw that production live at the end of 2001. And I met Alan Rickman. All I can say is that it still makes me drool. I'm jealous that you get to watch it over and over.

This is one of the plays that was being performed in London the one time I went there, but that I couldn't see because my mother doesn't understand English well enough to appreciate the theatre in that language.
