This was posted to a Remus/Sirius community I'm on:
Much as I love general R/S fics (i.e Sirius + Remus = Awww!/Crushing Angst), I've been feeling the need to read something with an actual plot, narrative twists and all that. Does anyone know any fics that include R/S (either as a main or background pairing)that also have a proper plot? Preferably action/adventury, but i'll take anything. Basically the antithesis of PWP - it's really quite difficult to explain what i'm talking about! (emphasis mine)

Hm.

According to her, it's really quite difficult to explain what she's talking about.

It's a relatively simple term; one usually learns it in grade school.

I believe the term she's looking for is STORY. Not a PWP, not an angst-fest, not a drabble... you know, a STORY.

*headdesk*

There's something vaguely disturbing yet hypnotic about the...jiggliness of your icon.

::stares at it some more::

Hmmm. This person should be glad they are not in UNCLE fandom, where people would now be telling her how she doesn't *really* like slash the way she should because she's asking for stuff with a plot... ;)

Ohhh, how Uncle fandom has fallen! I remember when that's where some of the plottiest stories were found!

Still is. That's what the arguments are about.

Okay, people arguing over it weirds me out, but thank goodness the plotty stories are still there.

and people wonder why I'm a bitter old fandom queen.

(well, no, I don't think anyone wonders, since I tend to tell anyone at the slightest provocation.)

cheers to her for wanting something with a plot, tho. she's already risen in my estimation just for that. I was run out of one fandom on a rail for daring to suggest that storeis with plots are better than stories without plots.

Oh, please, tell me you're kidding! Please?

...or at least warn me away from the fandom...

I just put out a recs request the other day (in dS) for fic with plots, but I don't *think* I had any particular trouble explaining that I wanted actual stories. Apart from that, she and I are, like...identical twins!

On a related note...I'm beginning to wonder if people are losing interest in writing stories with plots. Non-pwp, non-drabble fiction seems mighty thin on the ground in a lot of fandoms.

Ah, but is the writer of this note or her audience the inspiration for the percussion music your noggin is producing? I mean, if she's writing to a bunch of folk who don't seem to produce a story when they write, but they call what they've written a story, then...it WOULD be quite difficult to explain what she's talking about...to them.

Also, love the Prisoner icon. It somehow captures much of the essence of the entire show, right there...

Given that most writers of "modern" fiction seem to have a similar difficulty, it is perhaps not surprising that fans do, also.
