You'd think! And yet? I can't absent them from who they are in real life because then they're not who they are, and then they're not who I want to sleep with... even if it's just a shallow "hey pretty" thing.

This is the same reason I can't fantasize about anyone who smokes. Michelle Pfeiffer was high on my list back in the day, but one pic of her with a cig poured a big bucket of cold water on that crush.

What you need is an alternate universe for fantasies. That way, you cheerfully say goodbye to your friends and family, and then you go and spend a weekend, say, in a nice cabin by a lake, which is mysteriously always the right temperature (the lake) and never dusty (the cabin) and completely, entirely, reliably private.

And then Hugh Jackman cheerfully says goodbye to his wife and joins you there for a bit, and then when you're done, you go back to your respective homes.

Lately when I go to my fantasy lake house, it's usually empty, and has high-speed internet access, which apparently to my subconscious is better than sex.
