From E!Online:
Natalie Portman takes care of business in V Is for Vendetta. The Closer actress plays a guerrilla warrior in an alternate future where Germany wins WWII and Great Britain becomes a totalitarian state. The action-heavy pic is the brainchild of The Matrix's helmers, the Wachowski brothers, and begins production this spring.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but Alan Moore created and wrote V is for Vendetta, not the Wachowskis, right? Did I just make up reading that book?

Fuckers.

Also, as far as I recall it had nothing to do with Germany winning the war. Britain became a totalitarian state in the fall out of WWIII or something like that.

Poor Alan Moore. Didn't the Brothers W. massacre From Hell as well?

Oh, definitely Alan Moore. Any word on who the LEAD is?

Nope, that was the Hughes brothers.

*sigh*

Not a word. She's the first cast member I've heard of.

Oh dear fucking god.

1. V for Vendetta is Alan Moore and Dave Lloyd. Either of whom could sneeze a better movie than the Wachowskis. V is the Wachowskis' brain-child in the same universe in which Walt Disney decided to animate Lolita.

2. It's an alternate universe based on the U.S. and Russia bombing the fuck out of each other and their allies. Britain survives because the government decides, before the Cold War goes M.A.D., to move all nuclear weapons off British soil.

But I suppose that's too complicated for Keanu.

What do you want to bet Valerie will not even be mentioned?

Yes, I've read the book. Hence my joke about making up reading the book. :)

My assumption is that Natalie Portman *is* Valerie. *sigh*

Oh, I know you've read it. I was frothing, not gently, at the Hollywood lamebrains. Sorry.

And I was assuming Portman would be Evvie.

Hm. You're probably right (re: Evvie). Hm. I suppose I will have to re-read in order to rant properly. ;)

Indeed, I saw a post somewhere by someone saying they'd heard/read/whatever that the W's were in talks with Portman about the role of Evvie.

So who will Hollywood choose to destroy other Alan Moore classics? The Hudson brothers on Watchmen? The Zucker brothers on Miracleman?!? The Smothers brothers on The Bojeffries Saga?

Actually, I'd pay real money to see that last one...

Isn't it now the Wachowski brother and sister? I thought I read one of them was having a sex change.

Yeah - Larry, I think, is the one having a sex change. I don't know if he's done it yet or not...
