In a way? I'm *so glad* there was no web when I was an adolescent. I think I'd *still* be embarrassed by what idiocies might be floating around out there, said by me for all to see. But good lord, before you say "there's just not that much out there", how about finding out if that's true first??

Oh, god, do I hear you. Honestly, it makes me want to make my own article-in-progress on the Smallville fandom private, because even with a year of research, there was so much I just didn't know.

Point being, she's young, new, hindered by her mono-fannish experiences, and obviously has no idea how to do research--that, in itself, I find forgiveable, if laughable. She's asked for help, at least, and seems open to the suggestions and links she's gotten, though I predict her ambition will ultimately overwhelm her abilities.

I mean, good lord. A history of ALL fanfiction? Ever? My 20 pages wasn't even enough to scratch the surface of Smallville/DC Comics canon/slash/sexual representation.

personally, i'm still really hesitant to conclude that There's Not Much Out There when i go hunting and gathering and researching -- if i haven't found much even after several rounds of library-crawling, i tend to think it's because i'm not searching right.

on the other hand, it must be nice to have her level of confidence. :-)
