If there was a Stanislavsky method sense-memory behind that performance, I just don't want to know.

No slam on Laurie (who is good), but if Ian doesn't win, there is no God.

At least, not in Hollywood.

Oh, I'm sure Ian will. ;) Though part of that is that he's given better *writing*. Even though the writing on House is really damn good for network, the writers at Deadwood have no fetters on what they can do. If House were on HBO, and Laurie were given matieral on the same level as McShane's? I think it'd be a real toss-up.

I'm glad to see that "Three Stories" was nominated, though; I think that's easily the best-written ep of House so far, and it stands up against pretty much anything else, I think.

I'm thrilled that "Three Stories" was nominated - it absolutely deserves it. But - have you *seen* Deadwood?

I haven't, actually, though everyone I know (including some non-media-fan friends) says it's fantastic. It's on the list. :-)

When I see that icon, I lose the ability to enter into the discourse in an intelligent fashion. (drools on keyboard)

Glad to see House and Deadwood both got so many noms. Really, Ian deserves it; he was so amazing this season. I'm also glad to see "Three Stories" got nominated for Best Writing, though I think it deserves it more for the directing. *g* But I'm hoping for a Deadwood sweep of all the categories they're in. I know I won't get it, but I'm hoping for it.

And who knew Huff had so many admirers? (At least among Academy voters.)

I believe he's now a regular on "Boston Legal", along with Bill Shatner. And the idea of Shatner being nominated for an Emmy...I never thought I'd see the day. I love the guy but he spends so much time chewing scenery, you know?

Er - fyi - this is William Shatner's third Emmy nomination. Also? He won last year.

Huh. Just goes to show that I pay little or no attention to the awards these days. I mostly just check out the nominations for Best Show (or in the case of the Oscars, Best Movie) and put them on my list of things to check out.

So Shatner actually got an Emmy? Wow. I thought that was on the list of Signs of the Apocalypse, along with Madonna's blasphemous cover of "American Pie".

He's the lead on Boston Legal, a spin-off from The Practice, where was *also* a lead in a drama.

I have to ask - why don't you think James Spader is a drama kinda guy? All his greatest roles have been in dramas - he came to national prominence in Less than Zero, Wall Street and Sex, Lies, and Videotape. Just because he made idiot comedies when he was a teenager doesn't make him a comedy guy (c.f. Sean Penn, Anthony Michael Hall, Tim Matheson...).

WTF is up with the nominations for Six Feet Under? Were they nominating the show that was actually on last year, or the one from three years ago that didn't make you want to kill yourself and everyone you'd ever met? Bleh. Especially annoying to see it in Best Drama and Best Actress -- two categories that should have been filled by Veronica Mars. Grrr.

Great news for HL and IMcS, though. 24 and Kiefer had a fantastic year too, so that may be the most competitive category.

Also, lookit the number of ensemble shows represented -- they really need ensemble acting categories for comedy and drama, IMO.

Spader and Shatner got nominated! Woo! Those two guys make that show. Each is terrific, but together they're brilliant.

I'm thrilled to see Patricia Arquette on the list. That's one I didn't expect.

Sandra Oh should win, hands down, because I've always liked her, but her character on Grey's Anatomy is the reason I can't watch that show. I hate her *that* much.

Tarantino and Rescue Me got nominated, too. Cool!

I was pleased to see Rescue Me as well! Go Denis!

YAY HUGH!

Also, Sandra Oh and Stockard Channing! (I heven't watched any even remotely recent West Wing, so I have no idea if that's even what she's nominated for, but Shadow of Two Gunmen was on the other day and I'm feeling the Stockard Channing love.) Glee!
