Free-for-All

When I was a kid, I thought I'd open up a little storefront called "Ask Me Anything" - and I'd charge people money to answer their questions, whether the answers be fact-based, as in "What is the capital of Zimbabwe?", or opinion-based, as in "What should I do about my teenager who stays out after curfew?". I thought I'd make millions of dollars. Yes, like fen, know-it-alls are born, not made.

In that spirit, I give you the "ask me anything" meme. I will answer all, and I will answer truthfully. I've set the poll so no one can view your question or your identity - I will answer in the lj, but I will respect wishes of those who don't want to be identified. Just let me know.

ETA: You're free to ask me personal questions. I'm free to answer with "I won't tell you that." But I probably, you know, will. ;)

Escapade intro vid translations

I had a few people come up to me at Escapade and ask for the Elvish for "turn off your cell phones" - so here is the full Elvish (Sindarin, not Quenya) from the intro vid (with huge thanks to loreleif):

"I 'lamhoth prestar aen" = "Fandom is changing"
lit. "the speechcrowd is changing", also "the noisy orcs are changing", which I find particularly apt

"Han mathon nan mereth" = "I feel it at the con"
lit. "I feel it at the festival"

"Han mathon erin haegovadel" = "I feel it on the 'net"
lit. "I feel it on the remote meeting"

"Luithio lin palanlamath" = "turn off your cell phones"
lit. "Quench your far-voices"

And yes, the intro vid will be on the con tape.

Adieu, Fred. You taught me many things - all of them useful. And considering what my hobby/obsession is, this icon falls right in line with that.
