Ok, I'm entirely embarrassed by this. I put up an "Ask Me Anything" poll in February, and never got any replies, so I figured no one loved me and I moved on. But apparently, you have to go VIEW THE QUESTIONS ON YOUR OWN, and not expect them to be mailed to you like lj responses.

::bangs head::

So, thank you, [livejournal.com profile] unmisha, [livejournal.com profile] morgandawn, [livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett, [livejournal.com profile] jorit, and [livejournal.com profile] natlyn, for not blithely unfriending me when I totally failed to answer you.

[livejournal.com profile] unmisha -- Are you a research queen, or do you seem to pick things up by osmosis?

I think it's a combination of both. I really do love knowledge and finding things out, and I enjoy reading through books which are simply lists of facts and trivia. I don't have an eidetic memory, so I don't keep entire books in my head, but I have realized (only slowly over many years) that my levels of retention are a bit higher than many other folks'. This includes stuff like being able to remember huge chunks of dialog after seeing a movie or tv episode just once. I know my driver's license number, my checking account number, my credit card numbers, my friends' phone numbers, cell phone numbers, work phone numbers... It's not something I practice; it just is.

[livejournal.com profile] morgandawn -- where is God?

I'm not the person to ask, because I don't believe that God is anywhere. I have no belief in any kind of higher power. A longer discussion of "spirituality" and "The interconnectedness of all living things" requires several free evenings in a row and lots of alcohol.

[livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett -- Who's the black private dick that's a sex machine to all the chicks?

SHAFT!

[livejournal.com profile] jorit -- explain to me please how vids are "art"

Wow. That's a pretty amazing question - and the answer would have to start with a definition of 'art'. Would you mind terribly if I took some time to craft an essay? Heck, you've waited this long; a few more days shouldn't be a big deal. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] natlyn -- Why are peppermint candies red and white, when the plant is green?

Seriously? I think because red symbolizes spicy or sharp-tasting to most people, and green is a cooler color which brings to mind blander foods like lettuce and limes. So it's all psychological. That's my guess; I'd have to look it up (see unmisha's question {g}).

And now, in the same spirit, I'm open for business in the "interview meme". Ask me five questions here in comments, and I'll ask you five back in your lj.

1) Why has nobody yet written a Jeeves books/V crossover? (See my LJ for details.)

2) Why always the old guys for slash pairings? (Not that I don't love them too.)

3) What was the definitive New Wave band?

4) What's your favorite cuisine? (Italian, Chinese, Thai, French, whatever)

5) Hugh Jackman's Van Helsing hair: Pro or con?

1. Blues or pop?

2. How do you think that your tumultuous upbringing has strengthened you? Or do you? (okay that's 2 questions, posing as one)

3. What do you consider your greatest strength?

4. Are you happy?

5. What do you consider to be the worst manifestation of the human condition?

Essays are acceptable. :)

1. Name one book, play, song, or anything similar that you consider a "hidden treasue," something you know about or appreciate that few other people do.

2. If you could strike one word or phrase from the fannish vocabulary, what would it be?

3. Say there's someone like, oh, me, who's never really learned to appreciate vids. I ask you to make me a tape of 5-10 vids that will hook me into the art form (or at least, if they won't, nothing will). What do you send me?

4. Adapted from [livejournal.com profile] ratcreature: if you could enact one major retcon in the West Wing universe, change or undo one storyline, what would it be?

5. Llamas?

I'm very patient and essays are fine with me. In fact, if in exchange for your essay on vidding, you'd like to ask me anything, please feel free. Or you can interview me. Or whatever.

Questions, questions

What sci-fi or fantasy book would you recommend to someone who doesn't usually read sci-fi or fantasy? (Besides Harry Potter.)

What famous person, from the past or present, would you most like to meet, and why?

Have this summer's crop of movies, thus far, met your expectations? (Matrix, X-Men, etc.)

You can only choose one to take to a desert island... the complete X-Files or the complete Buffy on DVD. Which and why?

Jonathan or Anthony LaPaglia?

Why would an otherwise rational person want to organize a con?

How many people live in the loop house, anyway?

Do you think there is a difference between show fans and celebrity fans?

Did anyone besides me respond to the queery regarding llama clips?

If you were a character on Jimmy Neutron, who would you be?
