shrift and I were clutching various body parts throughout this entire episode. Um - our own, that is - that kinda sounded wrong. She was grabbing at her head and practically pulling her hair out; I had one or both hands clapped over my mouth through the whole thing. There was a lot of squirming and shouting. Um, that sounded wrong again too.

AAAAAAAAAAAIGH! WTF!!!! I need ANSWERS, dammit! Why was Dex's file destroyed!? What wasn't Harry telling him? Who were the other three people with mug shots in the paper!? Who was the dead body on the floor next to Baby!Dexter's mom!? Who was wielding the chainsaw!? TWO DAYS SITTING IN HIS MOTHER'S BLOOD?! Who was the bio-dad, why was he introduced, and why aren't there records of him before 30 years ago!? Was Dex's mom *really* a drug-runner!? How does Rudy know Dexter and how did he find him!? How does he know his method of killing!? Why does he want Dexter to remember what happened to him? WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!?!?!?!!?!

Why does Doakes think Dexter is involved?!

How does Dexter catch up with the yacht?? How does he let himself be captured / gotten the better of? Will we find out who rescues him? Will it be Doakes? Will it be Deb? Will we have to wait til SECOND SEASON OMG!!!!!

And the way Dexter almost lost it in Camilla's yard, and the way he grabbed the dispatch radio, and the way he RAN?! Yeah, he feels nothing inside. Riiiiight.

Sorry, I didn't mean to leave just the total pedant comment, but I kept trying to formulate my squee into a way that wouldn't be spoilery and couldn't. So I'll just keep my mouth shut until next week. Bwee.

Wait - you know what happens?!?!?! I mean, don't tell me - but people who've read the book say that the show has already diverged significantly from the novel's plotline....

Okay, see, it has diverged pretty significantly. But I am starting to wonder if they're planning to tie it back up, because book 1 had its climax around the ITK taking Deb and Dex having to find them, and the story about 3yo Dex sitting in 2 inches of blood for days is straight from the book. But, you know, they could be borrowing bits as it suits them without taking the whole. But if they are taking the whole--there's a doozy of a thing to discover about Rudy.

If they kill Deb I don't know *what* will happen to Dexter. Harry told Dexter to always go to his sister if he couldn't handle things - that she'd keep him grounded. Even if that isn't exactly how things work out, she is his only anchor to the life he was given. I both can see and can't see the show offing Deb. The question is, who rescues whom, and in which order, and - okay, that's more than one question. And there are many more. Like, how am I going to live until next Sunday.

I had that very disturbing thought myself. *shudder*

I really hope that's not true. Because, that would actually be more disturbing than anything else including the serial killing and the roomful of blood *and* the Ice Truck Killer combined.

But as a reason for the police file to destroyed, I can see it. Still, he was in there for what - two days? I think he'd mostly be traumatized, shitting himself, and crying. I don't think at that point he'd even know *to* eat the... meat.

Okay, thank you, now I get to go take a final exam with this in my head. Yay.

You could always read the book. Of course, then you'd know what happened and it wouldn't be nearly as exciting.
