Touchscreen.

Works in portrait and landscape - without pushing buttons. It just changes when you turn it on its side.

Runs OS X.

ETA: It takes pictures while you're on the phone and sends it to the person on the other end of the call. It interacts with Google Maps. Bluetooth and WiFi. Scroll through your voicemail messages on a menu; tap the one you want to listen to. Touchscreen goes inactive when you put the phone to your ear.

Oh, and it's also an iPod.

I...

It will be mine. Oh, yes -- it will be mine.

[livejournal.com profile] corinna_5 As one of my coworkers put it, he [Steve Jobs] just made CES totally irrelevant

I don't know how they do it. An hour ago, I still didn't want the iPhone (I wanted the iTV though) but now that he's demonstrated it? I want.

And here I thought I had banished all desire for material things.

I hate you -- in the good way, of course.

Ho-lee CRAP.

I don't even care about music, and I'm geekgasming here.

Did you read the minute-by-minute? It's breathtaking.

You left out how you can e-mail someone a document without interrupting your phone call with them from the same device. From a UI designer perspective, if they've got that right? That's HUGE. That's just... I'm gonna have to go lie down.

CES, it's worth noting, is THE big industry show. Like, everyone and their brother is there, all the gadget blogs are doing minute by minute, industrial designers work all through the holidays to get appearannce models of the newest toys ready. And it's been totally 0wnz0r3d.

Yeah - it's like there's a huge convention rolling out next year's *awesome* dvd recorders and some other convention on the same day says "This is a TiVo. Let me show you how it works."

Apple's web site has slowed to nothing and the stock price is up $6 per share.

I think people want the phone.

If it runs OS X, does that mean the iPod part's still compatible with Windows PCs? Because if we still have to wait for a Windows version, I might just have to cry.

Oh man - I don't know - you could search [livejournal.com profile] macosx or [livejournal.com profile] macintosh, or look at the transcript of the presentation - http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/live-from-macworld-2007-steve-jobs-keynote/

I wasn't even looking for Windows. Sorry I can't be of more help!

CNN.com's story on Jobs' keynote speech includes the shockingly adorable anecdote that he demonstrated the iPhone's capabilities by calling up GoogleMaps to locate the nearest Starbucks, called the Starbucks and ordered "4,000 lattes to go!"

It wasn't charming enough to make me want to spend $499 on a phone, but I'm now totally all about this version of the Nano.

:-D Yes - they have the complete transcript, along with descriptions of audience reaction <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/live-from-macworld-2007-steve-jobs-keynote/>here</a>. I especially like how he then said "Oh, wrong number. Sorry." I also lust for the AppleTV box. Wireless streaming from your computer's downloaded movies or tv shows to your television...

I would be remiss in my bitching duties -- as a friend -- if I didn't point out your subject line and say, "should be Its" (possessive form). *ahem* I only get pedantic with friends!

But I can cut you some slack because you were understandably distracted by the shiny Apple techporn. As am I. *lusts over gadgetry*
