5 More Questions...
Jun. 16th, 2003 01:46 pmWhat sci-fi or fantasy book would you recommend to someone who doesn't usually read sci-fi or fantasy? (Besides Harry Potter.)
That would depend entirely on the person. Seriously - I don't have standby answers for this. I would have to take into account what that person generally likes to read, or what kind of interests they have, or what they believe, or what makes them laugh, and I'd go from there. I'd also have to take into account my reasons for giving them this book - am I trying to show that sci-fi isn't stupid? That it's nothing to be afraid of? That it can be hilarious? Sci-fi and fantasy are pretty wide-ranging genres, and I firmly believe that there are books which fit into those genres that anyone can enjoy. It's all a matter of finding the right one.
Why, are you looking? ;)
What famous person, from the past or present, would you most like to meet, and why?
So, so hard to choose. I think probably John Adams, just to see what he was really like, because I have two warring versions of him in my head.
Have this summer's crop of movies, thus far, met your expectations? (Matrix, X-Men, etc.)
Hm. Well, my expectations were to be disappointed, so right now I'm about 50/50. I thought Matrix Reloaded was... eh. I enjoyed X-Men 2 well enough, but I also was looking at it as far lighter fare than Matrix, so there was less to be disappointed in. I'm trying to think of other summer movies - I enjoyed Finding Nemo quite a lot.
You can only choose one to take to a desert island... the complete X-Files or the complete Buffy on DVD. Which and why?
Buffy. Why? Ultimately far less disappointing than The Travesty That is X-Files Canon In The End (yes, I care about canon a little), and has an episode you can sing along with. Plus? Giles!
Jonathan or Anthony LaPaglia?
Anthony. Definitely Anthony. Mmmm.
Next is Jackie, and then I'm all out of questions, unless anyone else wants to ask me five in exchange for five for you.
