Note how in the mock-up of the 1973 cover, Radio Times only cost 5p! Certainly that's the best part of the picture.

I mean, it's not just me, right? What else is this pose supposed to communicate? Of all of the photos I presume must have been taken during the photo shoot for this cover, why did they choose this one, which is simply fraught with just-about-to-be-sex? Look at where Sam's hand is. And Gene's. And where is Gene's other hand? And look at their faces... eyes... hands... hair... I'm....

Are they trying to kill us?

Speaking of, could you answer a question I've had since the pilot but never bothered to find the answer to?

WTF is "Hoops"? Is it a breakfast cereal? Is it like Cheerios - made of little "o" shaped thingys? Or am I a gazillion miles off the mark?

Hee! 'Hoops' is Spaghetti Hoops- most likely Heinz (http://www.britishcornershop.co.uk/britishfood.asp?id=TJ0032). I think the US equivalent would be SpaghettiOs, although having never eaten those, I'm just guessing.

Ah yes! You're right, SpaghettiOs exactly, though those are Chef Boy-Ar-Dee, not Heinz. All of one, I suspect.

Do Hoops also come in versions with meatballs?

Not that I'm aware of- you can get the regular spaghetti with meatballs, sausages, or all kinds of other weird things, but hoops are just hoops. And choice was probably more limited in 1973, anyway; I'm not even sure we had Alphabetti Spaghetti back then.

Well, that was...timely. Best Beloved is in the middle of (finally) watching the first series, and I've now seen 1.5 eps myself, and...whoa. I haven't seen much slashiness as yet in the actual show, but this photo pretty much entirely makes up for that. If there's ever been a clearer "Hey, look, the viewers want us to fuck. And I'm surprisingly good with that." photo, I can't think of it.

Oh, I'm excited to read your reactions to the show! And yeah, the slash vibe on LoM is a very *different* slash vibe than many shows, but it's definitely there.

And I understand the blinking. I couldn't stop staring for quite some time when I found them myself. And... now I'm staring again.
