All-singing and all-dancing, Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep will star in the big-screen adaptation of Mamma Mia!, the Broadway smash featuring songs made famous by ABBA. Mamma Mia! winner of the 2002 Tony Award for Best Musical, is the story of Sophie, a young woman who searches for her real father as she prepares for her wedding. The film version will feature Amanda Seyfried (Lilly Kane from Veronica Mars) as Sophie, and the producers (Tom and Rita Hanks) are currently in negotiations with Bill Nighy and Julie Walters for supporting roles. The film is due to be released in the US on July 18, 2008.

Brosnan claims the opportunity to sing Abba standards such as S.O.S. - a duet with Streep - was irresistible. He explains, "I said yes right away because it meant working with Meryl Streep. "Secondly, I saw the show with my family in London, and found it just so wonderfully happy and joyful, and so pitched in time forever in the 1970s. "What a kick in the pants to be able to go off and spend some time with Meryl on some Greek island, singing Abba songs!"

I wish I had the imagination to have made this up for April Fools', but it's absolutely true.

I'm willing to give Travolta a chance. I was mortified at first but then they had the 20-minute preview at ... was it Comic-Con? And everyone went nuts for it.

As for Pierce? Well... okay, I'm a pushover. He could play the ukulele in a movie for 38 seconds and I would see the movie. I might not pay to see it in *theaters*, and I might ff to the 38 seconds of ukulele-Pierce, but... yeah, I'm going.
