She's bahleeted her lj.
... does this mean I've arrived? Because seriously, if this can drive someone to bahleet, I just don't know what to say. Is there a card from the Fanmark post in Ces's lj for this situation? "They've bahleeted! You [ ] win / [ ] are vile (check one)."
And who wants to take bets on how soon she'll be back, either under a new lj name, or with the same name, making a triumphant "I AM WOMAN HEAR ME UNBAHLEET" post?
It'd all be vaguely amusing if it weren't so, so old hat.
I'm sure, somewhere, I'm being burned in effigy as a horrid, horrid villain who beat her down with my abusive abject cruelty. I just... If you make fun of someone online, you might expect that they will make fun of you back. If you show up where the fun is being made and comment that you're going to love reading all of the comments, what do you think is going to happen?
I guess being a graying 37-year-old means that you remember what real flames were like, and are baffled by someone fleeing this. Nobody even put match to tinder. Can you have, like, a smelly-candle war?

Date: 2007-04-28 07:52 pm (UTC)Oh my gosh, I hadn't thought of that. You're totally right.
Except I don't get it, because I'm American, and we don't understand irony.

Date: 2007-04-28 08:05 pm (UTC)I wonder if the 'irony-sense' develops by osmosis, so after three years of being immersed in British culture, I now have one, or if it's inborn.
Ah, questions, questions. (Twice I typed out 'queues' instead. Oh dear.)

Date: 2007-04-28 09:35 pm (UTC)However, I think that just because someone mocks you publicly doesn't mean you *have* to mock them back :) And that by letting her drag you into it, you end up looking worse than you could have. I think that was pretty much all I was trying to point out. My reaction was in no way "omg, tzikeh's so mean and I should defriend her" but just "well, I don't think she's *innocent* here, no matter how much the other girl handled herself badly."
Plus, mostly, I do believe in pointing out opposing POVs to people I respect. I figure dialogue is always good.

So either there's a major missing piece somewhere, or wow, holy overreaction Batman. That was much less exciting than

The end. Not very exciting. And, as others are saying -- if my post and the comments in it, which were *really* softballs, was enough to send her running, she needs to toughen up a bit.
