She's bahleeted her lj.

[livejournal.com profile] excathedra1895

... does this mean I've arrived? Because seriously, if this can drive someone to bahleet, I just don't know what to say. Is there a card from the Fanmark post in Ces's lj for this situation? "They've bahleeted! You [ ] win / [ ] are vile (check one)."

And who wants to take bets on how soon she'll be back, either under a new lj name, or with the same name, making a triumphant "I AM WOMAN HEAR ME UNBAHLEET" post?

It'd all be vaguely amusing if it weren't so, so old hat.

I'm sure, somewhere, I'm being burned in effigy as a horrid, horrid villain who beat her down with my abusive abject cruelty. I just... If you make fun of someone online, you might expect that they will make fun of you back. If you show up where the fun is being made and comment that you're going to love reading all of the comments, what do you think is going to happen?

I guess being a graying 37-year-old means that you remember what real flames were like, and are baffled by someone fleeing this. Nobody even put match to tinder. Can you have, like, a smelly-candle war?

That this entire thing happened in ... five hours? *boggle*

I wonder who holds the lj land-speed record for first-post to bahleetion.

Geez, I wish I could have wiped my insufferable teen aged self away with a couple keystrokes. The shame of some of the things I said back when I was always right still haunts me.

Really makes her saying "You really think this is the most important thing in the world, don't you?? haha! Wow - how pathetic." kind of ironic, doesn't it?

Because, dude, bahleeting your LJ over a minor argument? Now that's pathetic.

Oh my gosh, I hadn't thought of that. You're totally right.

Except I don't get it, because I'm American, and we don't understand irony.

Wow. That girl must be one fragile little flower. I went back to the OP and really I wouldn't even call what you said harsh. I suppose she's better off. You really need to have a thicker skin than that to survive in fandom.

Oh, right! Of course! *smacks head*

I wonder if the 'irony-sense' develops by osmosis, so after three years of being immersed in British culture, I now have one, or if it's inborn.

Ah, questions, questions. (Twice I typed out 'queues' instead. Oh dear.)

I had it before I ever lived in the UK. Q (for 'queue', of course) ED. :-)

You need thicker skin than that to survive in life. Gods help her when she enters the real world.

I think you do come off badly here. No matter how rude her behaviour was, you've brought it into your own journal where it seems like you've called her out mostly to make fun of her. Which, when you make it a public activity, doesn't reflect well on you. I certainly don't hold her in high regard, but I don't care about her at all. I do care about the fact that you consider your end to be acceptable public adult behaviour just because you've handled worse.

I mean, hey, if you don't care, that's fine :) I just think you should be aware that's how at least one person reads it.

Just because I'm ignorant...what's the difference between "bahleeted" and "deleted"? Something to do with sheep?

I think that's a fair opinion. And to be clear, I *do* care, in the general sense of "I didn't expect that this would cause her to disappear". My default assumption is that if you mock someone publicly, it's a fair call that they will mock you back publicly. But yes, I obviously do consider my end to be acceptable, if only because once she showed up in the thread and basically posted a comment that said "bring it on", she was making it clear that she did not care what was said about her. Unfortunately, she *did* wind up caring what was said about her.

And thank you for being honest with me; I like to hear what people think about what I do and say, because I can learn from it.

I agree that if you mock someone publicly, you have to be willing to deal with them mocking you back. Which she wasn't, and that's her own problem.

However, I think that just because someone mocks you publicly doesn't mean you *have* to mock them back :) And that by letting her drag you into it, you end up looking worse than you could have. I think that was pretty much all I was trying to point out. My reaction was in no way "omg, tzikeh's so mean and I should defriend her" but just "well, I don't think she's *innocent* here, no matter how much the other girl handled herself badly."

Plus, mostly, I do believe in pointing out opposing POVs to people I respect. I figure dialogue is always good.

This Homestar Runner cartoon (http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail50.html) should explain everything. By which I mean it will explain nothing at all. But it's the source of BALEETED, in any case.

I'm hanging out at [livejournal.com profile] slb44's this weekend, and she's been amusing me with updates on your saga. I finally got curious enough to go to the original thread that caused the deletion of the journal and...

That's it? That's why she deleted her LJ?

[livejournal.com profile] fandom_wank has been suspended, so nothing happened over there. She doesn't seem to have spammitied your LJ, so there's nothing there. I'm assuming you didn't spammity hers...

So either there's a major missing piece somewhere, or wow, holy overreaction Batman. That was much less exciting than [livejournal.com profile] slb44 was recounting. I almost feel gipped. ;)

Nope. Hers was "friends only" anyway, so even if I wanted to (which I didn't), I couldn't have. And, yes -- it's a can-dish-out/can't-take situation. Her comments over in [livejournal.com profile] lifein1973 were "You are so old and stupid and immature!" So, I mocked her. She dropped by and said "Oh, goody! This will be fun!" And then I guess she found out that she wasn't as cool and hip as she thought.

The end. Not very exciting. And, as others are saying -- if my post and the comments in it, which were *really* softballs, was enough to send her running, she needs to toughen up a bit.
