And who wants to take bets on how soon she'll be back, either under a new lj name, or with the same name, making a triumphant "I AM WOMAN HEAR ME UNBAHLEET" post?

I'm sure, somewhere, I'm being burned in effigy as a horrid, horrid villain who beat her down with my abusive abject cruelty. I just... If you make fun of someone online, you might expect that they will make fun of you back. If you show up where the fun is being made and comment that you're going to love reading all of the comments, what do you think is going to happen?

I guess being a graying 37-year-old means that you remember what real flames were like, and are baffled by someone fleeing this. Nobody even put match to tinder. Can you have, like, a smelly-candle war?

I got fandom wanked (fandom wunk?), so I guess some people thought I was the immature loser / pathetic one here. And, you know, that's fine. Humor doesn't often come across well, in text. But... yeah.

I think you do come off badly here. No matter how rude her behaviour was, you've brought it into your own journal where it seems like you've called her out mostly to make fun of her. Which, when you make it a public activity, doesn't reflect well on you. I certainly don't hold her in high regard, but I don't care about her at all. I do care about the fact that you consider your end to be acceptable public adult behaviour just because you've handled worse.

I mean, hey, if you don't care, that's fine :) I just think you should be aware that's how at least one person reads it.

I think that's a fair opinion. And to be clear, I *do* care, in the general sense of "I didn't expect that this would cause her to disappear". My default assumption is that if you mock someone publicly, it's a fair call that they will mock you back publicly. But yes, I obviously do consider my end to be acceptable, if only because once she showed up in the thread and basically posted a comment that said "bring it on", she was making it clear that she did not care what was said about her. Unfortunately, she *did* wind up caring what was said about her.

And thank you for being honest with me; I like to hear what people think about what I do and say, because I can learn from it.

fandom_wank has been suspended, so nothing happened over there. She doesn't seem to have spammitied your LJ, so there's nothing there. I'm assuming you didn't spammity hers...

So either there's a major missing piece somewhere, or wow, holy overreaction Batman. That was much less exciting than slb44 was recounting. I almost feel gipped. ;)

Nope. Hers was "friends only" anyway, so even if I wanted to (which I didn't), I couldn't have. And, yes -- it's a can-dish-out/can't-take situation. Her comments over in lifein1973 were "You are so old and stupid and immature!" So, I mocked her. She dropped by and said "Oh, goody! This will be fun!" And then I guess she found out that she wasn't as cool and hip as she thought.

The end. Not very exciting. And, as others are saying -- if my post and the comments in it, which were *really* softballs, was enough to send her running, she needs to toughen up a bit.

I know there's no use going to F_W to clear things up, but sometimes humor doesn't come across in text. The whole "does this mean I've arrived" was a joke about how lame the whole situation was, and I certainly wasn't gloating; I was more having a O_o reaction to the fact that she left over something so trivial as being mocked (rather gently, all things considered).

Ah well. Some may call it karma. I'll live.

I was out of town & AFK for a few days, come back and catch up on LJ... Yeee. I remember (not that I'm likely to forget) why I stopped reading and eventually left lifein1973. So sad.

Since I know you, and since I'm graying and older than you, it's hard to judge the kerfuffle from a distance, but, fwiw, I try not to engage in the "World vs. United States" war-bait. You just can't win at it, no matter how many facts or reasonable opinions or viable counter-arguments you present. It's not an unemotional exchange for the other party, and our role is to accept the pummeling and move on (while, fortunately for us, enjoying many fine U.S. programs that aren't remakes). So, had it been me, I wouldn't have engaged the baleeted chick in the original thread, but I'm known for not being adventurous. Still, the original thread was pretty harmless and stupid, and baleeted chick came across as shrill.

Unfortunately, though, I think that your threads ending up on F_W was predictable after writing about the kerfuffle. (Though I'm frankly surprised this lived up to their standards, because it's so anticlimatic and lacking in drama and OTT-ness, really.) Humor doesn't come across well in text, and, of course, since you as an American are incapable of irony (!), the raw material for interpreting it as bullying American blunt force against hapless, probably-deserved-it-but-still baleeted chick is there if someone wants to look for it. And since people have nothing better to do, they do look for it.

*shrug* I'm not much of a popcorn-eater for this stuff, I guess. Why anyone would want to point and stare at this kind of posting instead of, say, go look at catmacros is beyond me. And if I want to mock young'uns, I just go watch their bad vids on YouTube until I resemble one of klia's icons.
