OMG. OMG. OM to the motherfuckin' G.

Peter Petrelli is one angry little Matrix-Coat-Wearing Jedi Master, isn't he. And holy shit, but Milo brought his A game. And makeup and hair REALLY helped transform the Peter we know.

And Sylar's painting is a whole lot more meaningful now.

OMG Suresh was SO HOT with the swept-back grey hair and suit and glasses. And finally did something SMART, not stupid. (Even though he'd seen it in the comic book and therefore had an instruction manual with pictures to help him out. It's like he bought the SYLAR from Ikea.)

This show is freaking KILLING ME! How does it manage to be so *consistently* great? I... seriously, even if the next season SUCKS, we will have this absolute jewel of a first season. I am constantly surprised by their plot twists and none of them feel contrived. I gasped several times tonight, and I hit [livejournal.com profile] shrift repeatedly, shouting "I'm going to hit you repeatedly!" We had to pause several times and just gape at the screen and laugh in total disbelief and joy and the fabulousness of television, where everything was fucking insane and yet made perfect sense. SYLAR WAS NATHAN WTF HAPPENED TO THE REAL NATHAN DID HE DIE IN THE EXPLOSION BUT NO BECAUSE SYLAR HAD TO TAKE HIS BRAIN SO HE COULD FLY THIS EXPLAINS WHY NATHAN LOOKS SINISTER IN PETER'S VISION OF THE EXPLOSION OMG HIRO LOST ALL OF HIS HOPE WHEN ANDO DIED MATT IS IN CHARGE OF HOMELAND SECURITY IS THE LITTLE GIRL MOLLY WALKER HIS KID OMG MR. BENNET I LOVE YOU WAAAAAAAAAAAH.

I think they had to save the cheerleader to save the world, but I also think that they had to fail at saving the world in order to see the future so that they could go back and save the world.

"Go talk to yourself."
"I scare me."

And we saw Hana again!

Before I knew that Nathan was Sylar, I was hoping he'd meet up with PastHero who would greet him, as usual, with "FLYING MAN!" -- and Nathan would be undone by it, if only momentarily. Sigh.

The Linderman Act. Heh.

I hardly need point out all the Bush Administration ... yeah. Combining Watchmen with Bush -- our current fucked-up world situation is why, after being in development hell and turnaround since the 80s, the Watchmen movie is on track with a director and casting negotiations are in progress. Kinda wish it weren't relevant again, but, as a very wise man once said, so it goes.

HOLY CRAP MY SHOOOOOOW!!!

ETA -- Mama Petrelli's power? I'm guessing visions. Because we know Peter's power is to pick up powers of heroes he's near. [livejournal.com profile] musesfool and I just brainstormed this on chat: the first two powers he began to exhibit were flying (Nathan) and visions (Mama). Remember back in the hospital - waaaay back - he told his mom that he knew Nathan had been in a car accident before he got the phone call? And Mama slapped him? Wouldn't it make sense that she did that out of freaking mortal terror that he had begun to manifest? And he also told her he could fly.... Now, what, exactly, was Papa Petrelli's power. Clearly he wasn't mentally ill, as they'd put out as the official story, and how they explained Peter away too -- what else could Peter do before he met other heroes? I must ponder. Any ideas?

He is... It's ALL about the coat.

But I really dropped by to say this:

We went to a middle-eastern restaurant Sunday for a social studies assignment for my son and I was trying to remember the name of that cucumber yogurt stuff and all I could come up with was tzikeh. Which is close, but no cigar...

That is all. :-)

* This is the first time I've seen Milo look his age. He normally looks so *young* and "little boy lost," but tonight...wow. FuturePeter is damn hot. I'm totally digging the scar.

* Peter went 5 years thinking that Nathan lied to protect him...and it was all just a big Sylar mindgame. ZOMG. I was totally unspoiled for the Sylar/Nathan reveal and it was so worth it.

* Molly Walker is the little girl Matt rescued all the way back in Episode 2. The writers seriously rock.

* Bitter, jaded Hiro and Peter were awesome. Particularly because these two were the wide-eyed, idealistic dreamers in the beginning of the season. And now one of them is a battle-hardened warrior and the other is a cynical, broken man. This show kills me.

* Oh, and Peter's visions/dreams are totally prophetic. Remember the one in the jail cell in "Fallout" where Nathan turns into Sylar? That was all the way back in Episode 11. I just...so. much. love.

HOLY MOTHERFUCKING FUCK. Totally, TOTALLY didn't figure that out. And here's a thought that [livejournal.com profile] musesfool and I just brainstormed on chat -- what if Mama Petrelli's power is visions of the future? She said that she knew about Nathan and Peter long before they ever did. And when Peter was in the hospital back in episode ... 2? 3? And he told her that he knew about Nathan's car accident before he got the phone call, she slapped him across the face. Wouldn't it make sense that she did that out of freaking - mortal terror that he was beginning to manifest? And since his power is absorption of others' powers, he got *hers first*, since he'd been around her the longest? Hers and Peter's. It makes *so* much sense.

This is just my guess, but knowing Peter, I think he got it during the nuclear explosion, and kept it deliberately out of guilt, to remind himself that he'd killed millions of people in Manhattan. It seems like the kind of thing he'd do.

You are so right about the mother. I didn't get a chance to say so when you mentioned it in my LJ last week, but YES.

I couldn't love HRG more if I tried.

If Sylar hurts Nathan, I will have to hurt Sylar.

Peter was freakishly awesome. Speaking of the Matrix, how cool was the blue vs. red blood test? SO COOL!

Also? Apparently, Niki sleeps with a Petrelli in every timeline. I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen that threesome in fic yet.

And makeup and hair REALLY helped transform the Peter we know.

I love the scar. It's like, somehow, it helps--justify's not the right word, but it's the one I'm gonna use--it helps to justify Peter's earlier emo-ness. Like, it signifies the difference between Peter-the-Rebel-Without-A-Cause (EmoPeter, who defined himself by how he didn't seem to measure up to the rest of his family) and Peter-the-Rebel-With-A-Cause (saving humanity from the monster his brother [appeared to] turn into).

...I *love* the scar, is what I'm saying. *g*

It's like he bought the SYLAR from Ikea.

But can this Sylar be taken apart with the judicious application of an allen key?

I think they had to save the cheerleader to save the world, but I also think that they had to fail at saving the world in order to see the future so that they could go back and save the world.

I wanna know what happened to Linderman between '.07%' and the future we saw tonight. I mean, I assume that Sylar killed him, but--before or after the explosion? Before or after killing Nathan? Before or after "the Linderman Act"? Because the strategy for world peace Linderman was espousing to Nathan (everyone coming together in fear) is exactly the same strategy President Sylar was espousing to Mohinder. And I'm curious as to a) when Sylar would've picked that up, and b) *why* Sylar would've picked that up, even as a cover story/political agenda. Because *his* agenda was all about being the Most Special Person In the World, and world peace (or even world crushed-under-his-boot)...well, it doesn't *get in the way* of him achieving that goal, but it doesn't seem like anything he's really amped to pursue, either.

I *like* your Mama Petrelli theory. Because yeah, Peter was having visions/dreams of the future before he got anywhere near Isaac...yeeeaaaaah. It's either Mama Petrelli or Simone's dad, and at this point, I'm hoping for Mama.

Dunno - will we get a hero named Allen?

Before or after "the Linderman Act"?

Hmm - I get the feeling from that that Linderman is still alive. But then I don't know if we'll ever know, because I don't think we'll be seeing that version of the future again. OMG I love my show.

Oh! Simone's dad! Naturally - vision dreams -- and I keep forgetting it's *his* building we're always up on top of. And they don't hire a talent like Richard Roundtree to lie in a bed, comatose, and then die. I expect we'll be seeing him again.

Well, there are two things to keep in mind here:

1. Sylar is a master manipulator; and,

2. He's masquerading as the most powerful politician in the world.

Linderman's strategy isn't particularly unique so much as an eloquently stated espousing of the idea that 'controlled' chaos can lead to beneficial change and it's also of the kind of lofty sounding rhetoric tyrants and despots use to justify their more ruthless/bloodthirsty agendas (and there was one crucial change between Linderman's version of the speech and Sylar!Nathan's -- Linderman argued that fear and hope could lead to massive change while Sylar!Nathan argued for the power of fear and anger). So there's that.

That gets coupled with the fact that Sylar can't keep all the trappings of his powerful position if he does not, in fact, play the part. He doesn't just have to convince the populace that he's Nathan; he's got to convince the people closest to Nathan. He can't just look like Nathan; he's got to act and sound like him, too. So it made sense to me that he busted out that speech to Mohinder because not only is it the kind of thing a ruthless politician might be inclined to say, it's the kind of thing this particular ruthless politician, in this situation, would say.

Also, if Sylar rounds up all the meta-humans in one place, it's much easier to get at their brains so that he can continue his quest to being the Prettiest Princess ever the Most Special Person In the World.

Wha-? Who? Obviously, I haven't paid close enough attention all season, because I don't remember Matt rescuing a little girl, or any of Peter's visions!

I do love that the picture Sylar drew, that made Nathan look so dark, was basically a SELF-PORTRAIT!!!! That's awesome!

I, too, loved Peter all grown up and snarly, and I want to read the Nikki/Peter first-time fic RIGHTNOWPLZKTHX.

Mohinder's hot no matter what, but never hotter than when jabbing the Haitian in the neck.

I guess we're going to have to go back and watch it from the beginning again when it comes out on DVD...but back then, I thought it was kind of fragmented and boring! Now it's all coming together and Micah's not in it it's interesting!

I don't remember Matt rescuing a little girl, or any of Peter's visions!

The very first time we see Matt, he's directing traffic outside of a crime scene. The FBI is onto Sylar, and inside the house the mom and dad have been brutally murdered. Matt starts to hear the little girl saying "don't hurt me" in his head and he finds her in a secret compartment under the staircase. The FBI wants to know how he knew she was there, and then arrests him.

Peter's visions have mostly been the flying visions? But you don't remember him telling his mom that he knew about Nathan's accident before he got a phone call about it? He was in his hospital bed, after he'd jumped off the roof and Nathan had flown up from the alleyway to save him, remember? And when he was watching over Simone's dad, before he quit, he had those dreams? And in one of them Simone's dad was awake and talking to him about flying?

You don't like Micah? Awww. I think the kid playing him is great and he's *certainly* going to have a lot to do with how we get to where we're going, if Linderman has any say about it. :-D

Well, like I said, I wasn't paying real close attention during the first half of the season. The Nikki storyline has never interested me as much as the others; things just seemed to grind to a halt for me somehow with her plotline. *shrug* I'm sure others feel that way about Claire or Parkman.

I don't remember any of those vision things! I'll have a lot to look forward to when the DVDs come out!

I'm a new reader (from the dust-up at lifein1973) and I read through some of your entries and I friended you since I think you're funny and interesting. Hullo!

And yes, when I saw Peter and Hiro, it was totally a Neo moment. The choice of floor-length black duster was the cherry on top. Peter really does look different with his scar.

I think it's interesting how the timeline diverges. Future!Hiro has no memory of Present!Hiro meeting himself. It makes me wonder how time-travel works (like wondering if time is Back-to-the-Future-y or the concept of multi-verses). In the past, Hiro stabs Sylar but Sylar regenerated, so he went back into the past and changed it by telling Peter to save Claire... so how does Hiro then "experience" the current future timeline where the bomb was Peter and not Sylar? Hmm. I want to think about it, but experience tells me that time-travel discussions often end up getting nonsensical.

I really want to know the outcome of the Peter/Sylar fight.

Welcome! You know, it never fails to amaze me. I try *so hard* not to ever get into anything unpleasant in lj exchanges. But the few times I do, I get a bunch of new people friending me. What does that say about us all?

Shallowly, of course, it means I get more friends HI HI!

I want to think about it, but experience tells me that time-travel discussions often end up getting nonsensical.

Oh, lordy, do they ever. I figure each show, or movie, or book that chooses to use time-travel has to explain it their own way, and then just stick to what they've decided. So I guess we'll see what they've decided in six days (noooooooo I can't wait that long!), and hope it makes sense in their universe.

SYLAR ATE NATHAN'S BRAIN OH NOES.

And the really bad thing is that, of all the things Hiro has learned from the future, he didn't learn that part. So he can change a lot, and warn people of a lot, but he can't warn about that.

You and me both; I totally forgot that the little girl's name was Molly.

Regarding [livejournal.com profile] serrico's comment about Peter's visions/dreams:

It's either Mama Petrelli or Simone's dad, and at this point, I'm hoping for Mama.

I would say it had to be Mama, because he had the dream about Nathan's accident before he started working for Simone's dad. Still, there's obviously something significant about the Deveaux building, so it would stand to reason that Mr. Deveaux is somehow connected to everything.

Do you remember the ep "Six Months Ago"? Peter had just graduated from nursing school in that one and told Heidi that he was considering going into hospice care, and it appeared that the accident occurred while Heidi and Nathan were driving home from the party at Peter's.
