Tommy Makem, RIP
Aug. 3rd, 2007 12:32 pmA sad day for Irish folk music, folk music, and just music in general.
Tommy sings Wild Mountain Thyme (youtube)
Tommy and Clancy Bros. sing The Wild Irish Rover (youtube)
Tommy and Clancy Bros. sing a gorgeous version of The Parting Glass (youtube)
Oh all the money that e'er I had, I spent it in good company
And all the harm that e'er I've done, alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit to memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass, good night and joy be with you all

Thank you for the link to the YouTube "Parting Glass." I love that song so much. It's sung at every gate closing at Scarby. I always try to sing, and I always get choked up. :-)

Well, he's right about one thing.
"It's amazing sometimes how some people could watch the same thing I did and be so completely wrong about it."
Except you have to imagine *me* saying that.
Ah. He thinks he's a satirist. Tragically... not so much.
