A sad day for Irish folk music, folk music, and just music in general.

Tommy sings Wild Mountain Thyme (youtube)

Tommy and Clancy Bros. sing The Wild Irish Rover (youtube)

Tommy and Clancy Bros. sing a gorgeous version of The Parting Glass (youtube)
Oh all the money that e'er I had, I spent it in good company
And all the harm that e'er I've done, alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit to memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass, good night and joy be with you all

Yup. He was supposed to be at the North Texas Irish Festival this year, but wasn't able to make it, due to his illness.

V. sad.

Thank you for the link to the YouTube "Parting Glass." I love that song so much. It's sung at every gate closing at Scarby. I always try to sing, and I always get choked up. :-)

Yeah, I saw that yesterday and was bummed. I didn't think of looking on YouTube, though.

Random comment on your blog. I saw your BSG post linked on Jon Swift's site. I simply must have you on my friends list.

There's a link to a previous BSG post you made if you click the piece of hypertext that says "wrong".

huh. I wonder why he thinks my take is so "wrong". I... wow. Bizarre. I also wonder how he found my journal. ;)

Okay, no, seriously - this guy is either completely pulling our legs or is a complete idiot. He gets all his news from FOX News because the media is biased, and he thinks "Adama" is supposed to mirror "Osama", when "Adama" was created in 1979.

I... the Cylons are PEACE-LOVING??

Well, he's right about one thing.

"It's amazing sometimes how some people could watch the same thing I did and be so completely wrong about it."

Except you have to imagine *me* saying that.

I get it. Jon Swift. Jonathan Swift. The problem is, he does it badly. Just read his most recent entry. Too bad; we could use a Jonathan Swift just about now.

I suspect he's trying to mimic Steven Colbert, although I laughed at his analysis of Harry Potter. Anyhow, thanks for letting me friend you. You're wlcome to do the same should you feel so inclined.
