The mindset of those entering college this fall -- Beloit College's Annual List.

Some choice entries:
They have always known that "In the criminal justice system the people have been represented by two separate yet equally important groups."

There has always been only one Germany.

A coffee has always taken longer to make than a milkshake.
September 26 is the 20th anniversary of the original broadcast of "Encounter at Farpoint", the pilot episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I remember watching it in a tv lounge in my dorm with a bunch of other scifi geeks. That was right at the very start of my freshman year of college. That was *my* Star Trek. The original was my dad's; it premiered while *he* was in college.

Wow.

*feels young*

Voyager was 'my' Star Trek. I was fifteen when it first aired. (OK, I was a uni student when Enterprise aired, but I'm not counting Enterprise as Star Trek.) But it was B5 I watched in a tv lounge at uni with the SF club.

TNG was *my* Star Trek too, but I was in the 4th grade. Looking back on that time with the knowledge I've gained over the years, I realize that I had a huge crush on Geordi right from the start.

I kind of envy them their ignorance of Milli Vanilli.

ST:TNG premiered 20 years ago? My sophomore year of college, my roommates and I acquired a second-hand television just for that show; I had this vague impression it was for the first season, but it must have been the fourth.

Just today, I mentioned to a car salesguy about seeing Pintos still on the roads in my state. Then I realized, oh, duh, he's never seen/heard of a Pinto (or a Yugo!), has no idea what I'm talking about...

TNG @ 20 years? Wow. I was a junior in college, and still thought of Patrick Stewart as Sejanus from I, Claudius.
