Hee and Oy

Hee: There's a student in my Educational Foundations class named Blake Avon.

Oy: Between classes, I was studying at a table with another student. Her cell-phone alarm went off, alerting her (and me) to the fact that it was ten to the hour. I smiled at her and said "What did we ever do without them." She stared at me blankly, and I realized that she had never *not* had a cell phone.

Note to self: You do not own a rocking chair. Rectify this situation.

Come to think of it, Blake Avon wouldn't get why her name is funny. *shops for rocking chairs online*

I feel ancient now. :( Then again, I don't even have a working cell phone currently, and never had one that did alarm beeps, photos or anything other than beinga phone.

I have video of The Piper's band, playing a gig at the Kennedy Center (saying that will never get old), and the Cute Blonde Girl Singer says, "What did people do before the Internet? I have no idea," and the Grizzled Old Guy Fiddle Player (who's not much older than me >.<) said, "I do."

:nod: I was talking to my Professor about how now, kids at concerts hold up cell phones instead of lighters. Then again, lighters couldn't stream the concert live to YouTube. Unless they were SPY LIGHTERS.

*g* A couple of years ago, when the Piper's other band was debuting a new CD on Saturday night on the main stage at the Texas Scottish Festival, I brought a couple of economy-size packages of little mini-lighters to hand out to the die-hard fans, and there was this one couple in their early 50s who did not know what to do with them. I was, like, "Oh come *on*! You're not so old that you never went to a rock concert!" But they never had. o.O

OMG SLIDERULE. I loved my sliderule. And now I'd just stare at it and make it go slidey slidey, with no idea what any of the readouts meant. Drat.

Remember in Apollo 13 when the geeks got out their slide rules to fix the spaceship? And they fixed the spaceship? With a sliderule and some socks and some tape? Without a cellphone?
