Spoiler season begins anew - and I've just got some stuff on West Wing. Now, yay, I like spoilers, but I am going to give myself APOPLEXY because, when I am obsessed with a show, I can't STAND it when they make stupid, stupid, STUPID continuity errors. Drives me nuts - because it is not difficult to get it right.

I'm obsessed. I do not deny this. Most people don't care. That, too, I know. But it doesn't make it any better. I am convinced that those in charge of the West Wing simply hate me.

The Zoey storyline finally brings the eldest daughter, Elizabeth Westin (nee Bartlet) into the picture, along with her husband and her daughter, First Granddaughter Annie. About fucking time. However? It appears that Annie has been in SUSPENDED ANIMATION for the past 3 years, because she is 14, not 17, as she should be.

HOW HARD IS IT? THEY GAVE HER AGE RIGHT IN THE FREAKING PILOT! RIGHT THERE! IN THE PILOT! DO YOU WATCH YOUR OWN FUCKING SHOW?

Obviously, they don't. At least, they don't watch the pilot - home of the other great time-warp quote - when Leo says he's known Jed for 40 years, and then three years later says he's known him 32 years. So, he was rounding up by ELEVEN YEARS in the pilot? Fuck you, assholes.

[livejournal.com profile] killabeez and I have decided that there is a quantum singularity in Leo's office, and this is what was really in the document from NASA that they supressed. This is why there is all sorts of weird time-travel in The West Wing. Also explains what happened to Mandy et al - they stepped wrong.

Fuckers.

Ah, continuity... So fun to pick apart and at the same time just so, so annoying. You'd think someone somewhere would keep a file just so the freaking writers knew that their main character's parents are supposed to be dead and not show up a year later. Or that someone never went to college so why mention her degree in biophysics? Or that an actor started the scene wearing a blue shirt, so why finish in a black one? Kicks and giggles?

Not to be all nerdy and all but Fuck!

My favorite nitpick is how Hoynes apparently got younger over time. In first season, he was ten years younger than Bartlet, and in third, he was something like fifteen years younger. High-larious.

I, for one, would love to see a storyline where Annie actually was in suspended animation for three years, and ends up saving Zoey by attacking the kidnappers' headquarters with nanotechnology-enhanced special forces soldiers. And then they'll all get beamed up to the starship Enterprise and boldly legislate where no one has legislated before. Well, maybe not.

It is times like this where I am almost glad to be in a fandom where "continuity" is just kind of a suggestion.

They don't do ages well on TWW. They actually messed up with Zoey herself, too. According to earlier episodes, she was *not* a minor when she applied to Georgetown, and therefore would not have needed her parents' signature on a medical form. And we all know how important *that* ended up being.
